Luci: Yes sorry you are right it would help if I read the Ts and cs properly, I did read them but I guess got a shock when i saw the payment come off. Does this actually come off now do you know or is this just held in their system till we check out? I have used 1 amex card and the other my favourite bit of plastic for the US the wonderful Nationwide card, therre is no charge for that but not sure about Amex.
Hubby and I plan to go to Leeds sometime between now and then( it's actually out by the armouries which isn't central at all) but hey ho seems we have a good deal. Now another question, even if they asked for the cards do you think they would notice that we only became members of LCI AFTER we had booked rooms?
I would like to thank everyone who has been so helpful with their advice and suggestions.I do appreciate this price is excellent, you are right too about comparison to Europe, we toured with the kids around there last year and had to have 2 rooms everywhere and it cost a fortune- great thing to do but very expensive. Now it's time to think of other places to go to on this tour and hopefully come across some other great deals. Thanks again all!

Yes they take the deposit now, that's how they secure the booking and they wouldn't have anything to refund if they didn't take it.

No they won't know or care that you got the card after making the booking.

To give you an idea just how excellent this deal is, we will be paying $490 for 7 nights, but to go onto the Paris website without any discount the total is $1210. Some of the nights we have at $60 are listed at $200.

It is unlikley that they will ask for the cards at all but as i said and I know you agree its not the worth the risk, the chances of them cancelling your booking as you were not members when you booked are extremly low indeed I would not worry about that.

the short answer is no. it is only 300 miles and a 5 hour drive, IMO opinion much better going straight to Vegas.

Me too...unless someone can only drive short distances I suppose.

The only things really between LA and Vegas I can think of are Barstow and Primm (OK, and Jean)...but Barstow would be too close to LA to bother to stop overnight and Primm/Jean would be too close to Vegas to stop overnight.

If I had to I would stop at Primm but only about 45 minutes to Vegas from there...stopping for a break on the way, maybe to ride the rides in Primm or hit the outlet mall in Primm, sure...but not staying overnight though hotel rates in Primm are ridiculously cheap.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I have had an offer through from the Tropicana whihc whilst not the best property on the Strip I think better than IP and CC from $24 per night for the Island Tower its 2002 since I satyed at the Trop and I thought the tower rooms OK with teh high ones haveing brilliant views http://www.tropicanalv.com/blasts/2008/december_overview/roomspecial-redirect.html?utm_source=tropicanalv&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=decroomrate

I used to stay at the Trop until a couple of years ago when it seemed to go downhill, just look at the reviews on trip advisor !!!

I've stayed at the IP every year since 2005, so more recent than most on here.

You can see the deluxe rooms on their website, they are decorated in cream and beige. I would say they are on a par with Travelodge rooms, basic and nothing fancy. None of the rooms has a safe which may be a concern to some and I agree that the casino does smell "funny" sometimes.

I certainly wouldn't want a strip view room at the IP as these face Carnival Court which has loud live music until 2 or 3 am every night.

There are far, far better hotels in Vegas, but if prices are high elsewhere and you are on a limited budget then the IP may be an option.

You can read my reviews of the IP HERE

Just for the record, we have stayed at the Bellagio, Palazzo, Caesars Palace, Venetian, MGM and Planet Hollywood so we do know the difference in quality, but staying at the IP for part of our stay has helped us afford to stay at the high end places.

    Hi Luci,

Just to let you know we are all thinking about you :D
