I looked on the LCI site and this is what is says-
These rates are offered exclusively by Harrah's Entertainment to London Clubs Player Rewards Members only. These rates are not available to members of the general public. Harrah's Best Rate Guarantee policy is not valid on reservations booked in response to this offer.
So I am a bit nervous as the nearest casino is either Glasgow or Leeds but both are a few hours journey and we would need 2 of us to go as there will be 4 of us going to LV so prefer 2 rooms. On the normal site for Paris on these dates the rates are much higher, about $360.00. Luci did you just call and book, do they think you are an LCI member from your previous booking. We aren't going till next summer so may get the chance to get membership before then, but I was sure they needed your rewards number to process the booking- or have I got that wrong.
My dd friend stayed at the Stratosphere this year but trip advisor didn't rate it too highly, we want to give our kids a great experience before dd goes off to Uni after next summer- iseems to fit the bill at the right price and the luxury rooms would be fine for us. I have read a lot on here about tips for up grades etc but again think I am a bit of a novice and would only end up emrarassing myself!

Book online, you dont need a rewards number to do that. Book now while the rtaes are low and then if stoneman has to show his card, which I doubt, you can then either get a membership or amend/cancel the booking.

The best rate gtee wont be needed as the rates will not go lower than $60 and $75 for wkends. IMO

PS I like the strat for gambling but the hotel is not in the same league as Paris.

I wouldnt worry about the $20 trick, even if you dont try it the rooms are great at Paris, but you could get a better one and or strip view by asking

Do not stay at the Stratosphere as Photome has said it is a different league to Paris, its worth a visit to go up the tower but the hotel it self is not good and the location is terrible.

I strongly advise anyone taking the LCI offer to get a card whilst I think it is probably unlikley that you will be asked for it if you do get asked and can not provide it then they will cancel your booking and charge you rack rate. You need to work out if the saving is worth travelling to get the membership both in time and money or if you have any reason to go to these cities anyway.

Pleased to see that the long-promised increase in duty free allowances has finally been confirmed!:j

    (From HMRC website)
From 1 December 2008, when travelling from a non-EU country (including the Canary Islands, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar) you can bring the following into the UK for your own use without paying UK tax or duty:
    • 200 cigarettes; or 100 cigarillos; or 50 cigars; or 250g of tobacco
    • 4 litres of still table wine
    • 16 litres of beer
    • 1 litre of spirits or strong liqueurs over 22 per cent volume; or 2 litres of fortified wine (such as port or sherry), sparkling wine or other alcoholic beverages of less than 22 per cent volume and
    • £300 worth of all other goods including perfume and souvenirs.
If you have any more than these allowances you must declare the goods in the red channel or use the red point phone. If you do not, you are breaking the law and we may prosecute you.
From 1 January 2009, the other goods allowance will increase again from £300 to £340. However, there will be no further increases to any of the other allowances.
Additionally, from 1 December you can combine some of your alcohol or tobacco allowances, and there is a lower other goods allowance for passengers travelling by private plane or boat for pleasure purposes.

Ok this advice has been great.just one other thing, if say i book a room using one card and I can use my work address and hubby does the same using different cc and uses home address when we all land as a party of 4 will they not think it's odd that we used 2 different addresses, checking in I wouldn't use my work address would I, and they might think we are trying a 'scam'. You can tell I would make a dreadful poker player, haven't got the bottle!

No i have two cards at two different addresses and my driving license at my third.

I have never been quizzed on it, but if i pay using my Barclaycard and they need the address ill give them that. That said i have given my license as my address and then used a CC from one of my other addresses. Even when hiring a car this has posed no problems.

Doesn't the address have to match the address your card is billed to?

Personally, I would try to make one booking using your name and CC...then make the other booking using your husband's name and CC. I don't think you need to go to the trouble of putting down a different address unless the cards are actually billed to different addresses. I think where you would have difficulty booking 2 rooms is if you had a Total Rewards number entered - I know from experience that the site may not accept a second booking for the same time or dates around it if you already have a TR booking.

Christa, I booked online via the LCI link which gave me the LCI discount. I then called next day to amend the booking and they quoted me the LCI rates for the additional days I wanted to book.

I must admit I am getting increasingly nervous about being asked for the LCI Rewards membership card at check in. I am now wondering if I should make the effort to visit the casino on Boxing Day when we drive down for a flight. It may give me peace of mind. Just need to check that they are open on Boxing Day.

If it were me I would absolutely get the card - better to have it than not. I would be surprised if they ask for it at check-in (I would be surprised if the check-in agents will even know you're on an LCI rate, really) but better safe than sorry. I would think that relatively few people will use these rates as I don't think it's all that well known...but ultimately they could ask for the card so better to have it.

  • Advice on flights needed please.

Was looking to travel next October. Do you think its wise to book straight away or could there be any possible discounts in January Sales?

Anyone stayed in Bally? Looking like a good deal to me.

Anyone know what the Vegas weather will be like in May?

Also we plan to get away from Vegas at the weekends to explore so some good stuff to do would be appreciated - maybe a bit of camping / cabin in a national park for some fun and exploring etc. And maybe a trip over to LA.
