    Hi Guys and Gals

There has been talk on this board about how to call home cheaply. I used the WorldCard which I bought from a petrol station next to the Burger King behind NYNY. I noticed that they are for sale at lots of places such as drug stores, convenience stores etc. I have scanned one for you and this is what to look for.

    Worldcard1.jpgWorldcard2.jpg

The bottom portion of the card is credit card sized so you could detach it if you wanted. You call a US free call number, then you are asked for your PIN number off the card then asked to dial the number you need in the UK. I used it from my room in the Excalibur and my motel in San Diego and seemed to get a long time for my five dollars!

Hope this helps and further tips to come!...

I haven't stayed there, but have read plenty and the Golden Nugget seems to be the only place to stay downtown.

What about the Orleans or Gold Coast for that night?
Gold coast is full, Orleans is as much as a strip hotel
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Presently, there is a one-way drop charge to pick up a vehicle
in LAX and return to Las Vegas.

Unfortunately, on 3rd party web-sites, the one-way drop information
is not displayed under the taxes and surcharges and we apologize
    for this inconvience.

One Way rental policies and costs are set by the Pick Up location.
The Drop-Off Fee helps the rental office recoup the cost of returningthe vehicle back to original office.

This just confirms what i said earlier. I have friends who have been assured there were no one way fees only to get to their drop off location and be told there is one.

    Laughlin is great!

I always (well mostly) make time for a few days down at Harrahs in Laughlin - love it!

I have to say it gets a thumbs up from me as well stayed at the Flamingo (Edgewater now i think) and Golden Nugget, the Nugget is a great hotel and think last time it worked outy at $21 per night over the weekend that was probably about 4 years a go
Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time

I had a similar situation with CarHire300 a few months ago & phoned to check before booking. The agent I spoke to was able to confirm there was no additional fee and did the booking for me, at the online discounted price - and the confirmation emailed to me stated "no one-way fee".

Really good to know as currently the 1-way rental for my dates is coming up at $546.84 on dollar.com (with NO insurance waivers) and £226.01 on CarHire300 for the standard package (it's £50 for the upgraded package and since I will have no additional drivers this time, no point as that's an expensive tank of petrol)!

I my just book through them this time around - silly to pay more for less...I wonder if you can use Dollar Express if you book through CareHire300? Haven't picked up a car at LAX in ages but assume being able to skip the queue would be worthwhile.

Welcome back! Hope you had a ncie trip!

And that card gives similar rates for the one I mentioned you could get from 7-11...I think most convenience stores and petrol stations sell something similar which is far, far better value than the ones you can get in the vending machines at the hotels.

The only thing is that some Vegas hotels charge for making a call to an 800 number...at Ballys it was $1.25 flat fee up to 25 or 30 minutes (can't remember) then a rate per minute after the first period. Still works out quite a lot cheaper than a lot of other options though...only mention it so people are sure to check the terms at their hotel for 800 calls so they aren't surprised at the end! :)
