You will find that UScarhire.com does say on its website no one way fees.
but there is this in their terms:
Although our prices are fully inclusive of taxes, insurances and surcharges (except for the California Tourism Fee, Under age Surcharge and CFC at Orlando International Airport as stated above), there can be local charges for other optional items such as child seats, 1-way fees, enhanced road side assistance, GPS systems.
it seems that its not quite as transparent as it should be. think i'll give them a ring at some point and confirm. Got plenty of time before we fly anyway so its not urgent.
EDIT - this is the site i went thru to get teh £33 quote - http://www.uscarhire.co.uk/0 -

Always best to be safe than sorry so might as well give them a ring. Apart from one time we've always used Dollar for out west and have never ever paid a one way fee between LA/SF - Vegas or Phoenix0 -

So far an online quote from hertz works out at £107, picking the car up at 10am from lax and returning to their vegas office at 5pm that night, we obviously pay a premium for returning the car to a different location.
I noticed on one site (which i cant for the life of me remeber) had the option to drop the car off at the luxor, which is where we are staying.
So does ayone know what car rental agencies have offices at/near the luxor which would be ideal for us, and does £100 seem reasonable for hiring and dropping the car off at a different office?
No it doesnt seem reasonable...a medium car should cost you about that for 5 days and AFAIK there are no one way charges between california and nevada
I hadnt read all this page when I replied..I have used Carhire3000 between La and Vegas and def DID NOT pay a one way hire charge.
Just checked their website and it does say one way fees MAY apply!!?0 -

thanks all who have responded to this. the uscarhire website state exactly what people have said here regarding dollar not charging a fee between drop offs in california and nevada. i guess the dollar.com website neds updating to take this into consideration.
ta very much to you all who have responded this afternoon :beer:0 -
November/DecemberJust had a quick look at the Alamo site that I used for my LAX-LAS hire and there is a $150 drop charge.
As we got the free bus to the rental office I can only assume that this is the one way fee.
Just as a heads up, obviously if there are rental firms that dont charge, use them

MayAlright, we need to get off the strip for the night of the 8th. of January, CES has raised all the hotel prices by double, so we have bitten the bullet and decided to try DOWNTOWN:eek: So, those of you that have stayed in any of the fine establishments there, lets here which would be the best. I am waiting with bated breath. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

I love downtown and generallyany trip over a week will include a night downtown and plastic footballs full of beerI have stayed at the Golden Nugget and I have stayed at Binions the golden nugget is not much less than many strip hotels but in my opinion is closer in service and standard to say Bellagio than it is Circus Circus, Binions was adequate but the Golden Nugget was a pleasure and I woul always pay the extra to stay there.
Have you thought of venturing out of Vegas for a night Laughlin or the Grand Canyon ?Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -

we picked up in LA and dropped off in LV using Carhire300 ( dollar were the rental company) and cannot remember any charge for the one way.
however fee or no fee they were still the cheapest .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
MarchFWIW, pricing direct through dollar.com gives a 1-way fee of $113 from LAX to LAS (checked as we're doing just that in April) - shown specifically in the breakdown...I have rental car coverage on a US credit card so I don't need to book all-inclusive so booking direct usually works out best for me.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

Just checked them to see how it compared to the rates booking direct (as if the inclusive rate isn't a lot more than the direct rate I might go with it). When it gives the rate it says:
Please Note: Additional one-way fees may apply for this rental. Should this be the case we will contact you after you send in your request & advise you of the relevant fees, which will be payable to the supplier locally.
Makes it difficult to compare prices if there might be some extras to come.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
