Have to agree - where did you eat? We ate at the regular restaurant (not the posher one) at Bright Angel and it was pretty horrible and the service was crap...in retrospect would have been better off driving back out and stopping at the McDonalds outside the park!

But I have to say - while the canyon itself was amazing, it was the stars at night that were my favorite thing (someone mentioned I was in for a treat if it was a clear night and they were not wrong)...if it had been warmer I would totally have dragged a blanket out and laid down for hours...just fantastic - one of my favorite things I have ever done/seen.

Yes the same place, bright angel restaurant. One of my meals came with a house salad. Which consisted of a plate of lettuce, which was starting to brown on the edges and a ring of red onion on the top. When they asked what dressing I wanted with it I nearly fell off my chair.

We also stopped at the McD's just south of the park for breakie on the way home. Decided to order a Mcgriddle, not knowing what everthing else actually was and the picture looking the best. Sausage biscuit anyone? (I think its a scone btw). Anyway a Mcgriddle is a maple syrup pancake type thingy, which to us was the last thing you would use to make a bacon and egg sandwich with.

We really didn't have any joy at all with food once we left Las Vegas.

We stopped at D's in Kingman and had a similar experience. Everything seems very much the same as back home, but really its not. We didn't half feel foreign once we get out of Vegas though. Not sure if its just that part of the US as our road trip down the coast of California the year before was fine. It really was quite funny. But this time we didn;t have the comedy capers trying to fill the car up like we did last time. Every petrol pump was different, levers, pay first, green pump for diesel etc.

We both actually got bad colds while we were at the Canyon and as it felt like we were in the arctic didn't venture out to look at the stars. Wish we had of made the effort though thinking about it. But we were felling that grotty that it didn't even occur to us.

    Never mind.

    Vegas was ace though :T

Glad you having great time, I mentioned the stars, i am not a star gazer normally but they are really something out there on a clear night.

I thought it might be you but was too lazy to look back and see. :) Thanks for the tip - really got lucky with a clear night.

I had to laugh at this as my husband had exactly the same experience once. Personally, I'm a big fan of maple syrup and bacon or sausage, but combining it with egg was just plain wrong. :)

    Hi all,

Looking for something new to try in Vegas?? Just come accross this

    http://www.mysteryadventureslasvegas.com/

Mystery adventures in Las Vegas, sort of a CSI thing, got good reviews on Trip Advisor.

    http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g45963-d1012436-Reviews-Mystery_Adventures-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html

Obviously not tried it myself but anybody fancy it??

    Stew

We did this today and it was brilliant! We had a group of 10 total, the 4 of us, another group of 4 and a couple. I loved it so much. we had a great group which I think made it that much better - I could see being with people who didn't really want to play along and it wouldn't be as fun.

We're throwing down the gauntlet to the other MSEers as our group solved the mystery AND collected all of the things we were to collect...our guide says that happens only once every couple of months.

The mystery changes every 8 months and I will absolutely do it again...it took about 3 hours for us - but they say that it can take as much time as you want. The time really flew. Really well organized, they had drinks and snacks on the bus that takes you the various locations and restrooms at each location...our guide was great and helped us along only a very little bit when we really needed it. There was plenty for everyone to do depending on what your particular skills are too - so I don't think that anyone felt left out.

Thanks very much for mentioning this Stew - it was one of my favorite things I've ever done in Vegas.
