May$1.55 to the £1 now is best rate on CrownCurrencyExchange.com (http://www.crowncurrencyexchange.co.uk/content/us-dollars.asp)
glad I got some a few days ago for $1.75 but wish I got more now! April couldn't come quicker with the doom and gloom merchants talking about how bad things are going to be it is killing the pound off completely
I think our only saving grace is that hopefully the americans are suffering just as badly and the cheap hotel offers can see us through however long this is going to last for!0 -

What you said was rude , you jealous little man
For your information my daughter is a FSM . Thats the lady with the black blouse , who is in overall charge of the cabin crew
To the other person . I have done upper LAX . infact i have done UPPER nearly everywhere they fly and vegas upper is lovely
there was no boasting here , but there are alot of bitter replys
why not say something like , oh lucky you !
I have flown Virgin Upper for work and when I have paid and it used to be good value then Virgin decided that it was better than business class (which it probably is) and started charging silly money so I staretd flying Premium Economy then they decided that this was as good business class (which it is not) and stuck the prices up so I stopped flying with them. Whilst the service in Upper class was good and the service in Prem OK the service in Virgin Economy is shockingly bad its far worse coming back from the US than it is goig but my experience has made me feel the staff do not care and have the BA attitude that you are lucky to have a seat let alone a meal. I fly United everywehere I can now I think that they offer the best service, its not really a surprise that the US company offers better service just look at the difference in a restuarant in the US and one in the UK.Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -

i remember seeing a interview with Mr Branson , about how he started Virgin Airlines because BA were so complacent and there staff so rude because they knew they could be (no competitors ) and overall a very poor product .
i don't think Virgin are there yet by a long way , but they are heading down that road i sometimes think , but i may be wrongdorsetjohn wrote: »My daughter is cabin crew for Virgin and I can fly to Vegas in upper for £80 return ........ gloat , gloat !!

if i have ever raved about a good deal or fare i have got , it has always been a fare/ deal anyone could and/ or would have had a chance to take advantage of themselves .
the thread serves no purpose if it is used as soap box to brag about things only available to yourself .:ABetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
November/DecemberWell said trets77. While it it good for a chosen few to get awesome deals, flaunting them is not the object of this thread.
If you have a good deal you can share with everyone, please do so.
If you are lucky enough to have awesome deals that are not open to all, by all means mention your good fortune, but please don't brag and gloat about it.
A few years ago I was in Vegas on an extremely cheap deal. This was just after 9/11 and not many people were travelling. There were a couple of travel agents in our hotel (Not fancy, it was the Best Western Mardi Gras) they were kind of implying they had got a better deal than anyone could possibly think of, but when they told us what they paid, we had the better deal. Enough said.
I hope you all have an awesome time in Vegas. Only 12 days to go.0 -

November/DecemberWe are 11 days away.
You have to be philosophical about these things. Even with the current !!!!!! rate, it is still reasonable value for money, just not as good as it has been.0 -
MarchI have to be honest and say I was slightly glad to see the exchange rate as the 'you have insufficient funds for this transaction' message at the ATM yesterday scared the bejesus out of us.
Now I'm over the relief and it is painful.
Also, Vegas is great (as if there was any doubt)...and the in-laws are loving it which makes it all that much better...plus my MIL is a slot goddess...I swear we should just all stay in the room and drink beer and send her down with $20s to gamble for us.
And before I forget - for anyone looking for options for calling back home - after my other plan failed, we bought my MIL a phone card from 7-11 - $10, 240 minutes to the UK - you could also buy a $5 card which gave you 120 minutes...the phone cards in the Harrahs properties machines are $0.129 per minute within the US (shudder to think what they are per minute for calling overseas)!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MarchThe food at the Grand Canyon is dire. Really inedible in some cases.
Have to agree - where did you eat? We ate at the regular restaurant (not the posher one) at Bright Angel and it was pretty horrible and the service was crap...in retrospect would have been better off driving back out and stopping at the McDonalds outside the park!
But I have to say - while the canyon itself was amazing, it was the stars at night that were my favorite thing (someone mentioned I was in for a treat if it was a clear night and they were not wrong)...if it had been warmer I would totally have dragged a blanket out and laid down for hours...just fantastic - one of my favorite things I have ever done/seen.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Glad you having great time, I mentioned the stars, i am not a star gazer normally but they are really something out there on a clear night.0
