As for Bellagio - we stayed there once and didn't feel comfortable there ourselves (but were fine at Wynn)...but I must say that most American children are not taught to use cutlery the way you guys are taught over here...I still get panicked sitting down at a table with English friends, family and colleagues as I'm the only one who doesn't do it 'properly' and despite trying to learn, my hands just won't operate that way...so don't be too harsh on my countrymen and their table manners, it's a lot harder than you guys think! :)

I didn't realise that ferf. No offence meant. Sorry.:o

I'd not booked our rooms for the end of our trip yet, and am currently looking at the Bellagio - for our dates (3 nights Oct 22-24), the "website specials" offer comes back with $159/$459/$459 = $1077 +tax, but looking at bookings without any offer selected it comes back at $159 per night = $477 +tax!! Though I was holding out for a booking at the Signature (approx $600), that seems like one hell of a saving and a weird back door deal...?

None taken - none at all...I feel a bit like a caveman sitting down for a meal in the UK, but I can't help I wasn't taught the 'proper' way...and I acknowledge that your way is better - I just cannot do it. :)

...though thinking about it...I bet it would be a GREAT diet for me if I could only eat what I could get to my mouth in the proper way!

Do you spend most of your meal with a utensil in each hand? If so, chances are you eat in the proper way.

Do you eat with your fork tines pointing down? another good sign.

Do you use your knife to smush things onto your fork? You're doing great.

Cut only one piece of meat at a time? There you go.

Do you signal that you are done with your meal by lining your fork and knife up together on the plate?

    Etc.

I do not do any of these things. :)

Me too. My OH laughs at me as I constantly change which hand my knife and fork are in. I swap them over while I'm eating, tho I'm not all together sure why. I'm Scottish though and OH isn't, so that a good excuse for most things! :rotfl:

Oh, I totally do this, especially in really posh places*.

    See, not proper, me.

And well done funkyfin - maybe you could give me lessons - though I warn you that my husband has stopped trying.

    *no I don't, but maybe I'll try it. :)
