MarchSorry for going off topic but I know quite a few people on here have asked about Portable Media Players. Well, Currys are clearing out quite a few Archos players and I've just bagged a 605 40gb with WiFi for just £90, which is a real bargain (ferf will know this). Best to try and reserve at your local store as there's not many left.
If you're not sure what they are like, have a look here: http://www.archos.com/products/gen_5/archos_605wifi/index.html?country=global&lang=en
Hope it this helps out.
I was going to post about this last night and forgot.the larger one (80gb) is only £125 (or it was last night)...for someone who wants it mainly to watch video, etc. it's a great deal I think...it doesn't have some of the various iPod features, but you get a LOT more storage capacity for a lot less money. My brother-in-law has a 120gb or 180gb 605 and it's pretty cool. I think pennylane99 has one as well...I have a Creative Zen Vision W (60gb) which I love...my husband's got his eye on the Archos 7 when he upgrades from his Zen Vision M (30gb).

Marchplease let's not anybody fall out of a difference of opinion , this a friendly thread for all , where all points of view are welcome .
I couldn't agree more - I've never understood why some choose to make snarky remarks when someone doesn't see things in the same way...especially with regards to how to spend your holiday.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Thanks for that, I have just reserved a 40 gb model at the 6th closest store to me, OOS everywhere else.
Ferf the 80gb is now OOS everywhere, wish I had known last night lol.
What is the battery life like in these, will they last a 10 hour flight?
Just had a read of some reviews and it seems it is a great product BUT to make it work properly you have to spend as much again on docking stations and chargers....not sure if I want it now0 -

SeptemberJust back from vegas 21 days of fantastic fun, but jesus the place was empty which means the shops were cheaper than ever.
macy's (meadows mall) were doing PGA polo shirt's for $12 down from $40 the wife went mad as per normal 3 piece wool trouser's, skirt and jacket suit $350 down to $150 but charged $75 at the register so she had to go back and buy 4 more.
bought some tops from the Reebok shop at Las Vegas Premium Outlet stores and recieved a voucher for 40% off valid for two weeks later so went back two weeks later with a voucher for 15% + 40% = 55% off on top of the usual indoor offers (buy 2 get 1 free etc).
We stayed downtown as per normal i know a lot of people hate downtown but we stayed there every year when we had no money but now we have money and can choose where we stay we still stay there.
We stayed at the Bellagio last march its a fantastic hotel but there were too many people(mostly americans) pretending to be something they are not by staying at a posh hotel yet they cannot even use a knife and fork.
anyway enough said about that i would like to thank every post i read with help about driving upto San francisco.
We usually fly but we drove upto Betty across Death Valley and stayed at Mammouth Lakes, then took the Tioga Pass road thru Yosemite national park to San Francisco and on that journey we saw View's that we will never forget 10,000 ft up looking down tree clad valley's and blue lakes.
We thank you from the bottom of our heart's   :T0 -
SeptemberI still have yet to fiish reading this thread!! So much to read and take in!!!
However we are booking our flights this week!! How exciting!!
I am a little nervous though that we will book flights and another airline company goes bust or something!! Especially with flights being so expensive.
Is anyone else feeling nervous about booking flights at the moment??
You can get annual travel insurance that cover's this situation also if you are paying by credit card they may cover you aswell so give them a ring.0 -

I'm so glad I'm not the only one to notice this. My SO has some odd cutlery habits, but what I have seen in "posh" restaurants in Vegas sometimes beggars belief!0 -

I think you only need the docking station if you want to use it to record from telly - not sure though. You can get a mains charger for about £11 on amazon - possibly cheaper elsewhere. As for battery life, you can get a battery extender (uses 4 AA batteries) for about the same (again, maybe cheaper elsewhere).
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-Extender-Travel-Charger-Archos/dp/B0015D8904
I have the same thing but for my Zen and it's brilliant for use on flights - I read a review of it once where a guy tested it out - if you run the player down and then plug in the extender, it will charge the battery fully once (about 4 1/2 hours for video on mine, lots more for audio). BUT if you plug it in while you are using the player, the combined battery life between the handset and the extender works out at well over 15 hours of video.
I'm not sure on the costs of any software that may be required - it will probably depend on what you want to use it for - if mainly watching video on flights then will be a lot less than if you want to use all of its functions.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I really enjoyed your report and sounds like you guys got some incredible bargains!
As for Bellagio - we stayed there once and didn't feel comfortable there ourselves (but were fine at Wynn)...but I must say that most American children are not taught to use cutlery the way you guys are taught over here...I still get panicked sitting down at a table with English friends, family and colleagues as I'm the only one who doesn't do it 'properly' and despite trying to learn, my hands just won't operate that way...so don't be too harsh on my countrymen and their table manners, it's a lot harder than you guys think!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
