Is there any significance to the time of 8pm?

We are going to Freemont this Friday but it will be later than 8pm when we get there, going to the Rio for a meal and to the lounge first.

We never managed to get there on our last trip so is it worth going on another night and getting there earlier? Are there any must do things up there or is it just the covered show really?

go to Freemont Street early, so that after the 5mins of your time that the place is worth, you can get back early enough to the strip to have an enjoyable last night.

Clearly you went early and missed the lights and the entertainment. Or in fact you didnt go and are just assuming? Or you were on the rag? Or the misses was?

Or maybe you just dont enjoy live music, cheap food/drink and an amazing light show.

sturll - Your post about the cheap drinks/pole dancers and the great atmosphere was spot on!!

Freemont Street offers something different from the strip a great atmosphere and its more intimate because its all so close together. Anybody who does not think is any good is in my opinion CRAZY!!!

Looks like everyone's booked the Venetian deal. We're there 22-28 Dec and Caesars 29-30 Dec.

Charming. I would hardly call 30 and 32 old giffers.

    Which prooves your point exactely....

As we thought that Freemont street was pants..:p

So did we - the first time we went...thought it was lame and kinda seedy and almost scary (though we parked in some garage far too far away from the canopy)...that was probably 4 or 5 years ago and we only went back during the daytime after.

We went again in the evening in November last year only because we were meeting up with a friend who really wanted to go - and we had a great time...planning on going back with the in-laws in a couple of weeks (in fact, it's on the agenda for 2 weeks today). Personally, I don't get all that jazzed about the canopy shows - they're kind of 'meh' to me...though hoping to catch the Queen one when we're there as FIL is a big Queen fan.

It's all totally relative - I can completely understand why some people don't like it (and it's entirely possible that we won't enjoy it this time around)...we do still prefer the Strip ourselves - won't spend but a few hours downtown - for us that's quite enough...for others they prefer it down there...to each their own.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Wow, look who doesn't like anyone to disagree with him, bit childish really throwing insults don't you think??
Best re read the first bit of your first post on the subject
"People will give you a million tips and half will be garbage. What works for one does not work for another."
Now stop throwing your toys out of the pram.
And as for me, I think it's pants as well. I really want to spend my time with all the fanny pack brigade, not!
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
