5 weeks tomorrow and getting excited now. Bit nervous that the dollar rate keeps dropping, but as I can't influence it, I just have to get over it.

I did book the Venetian with $50 food credit for our last night, as OH said he'd like to go there at some point to stay. Any tips for staying here or at TI (like the west wing shortcut at mgm or anything else you can think of)?

People will give you a million tips and half will be garbage. What works for one does not work for another.

I will give you my tip for Vegas though and its one i promise you will regret if you dont take it :p

Go to Freemont Street, get there about 8pm. Then have probably your most memorable (and cheapest) nights in Vegas.

    Hav fun

So, I'm off there on monday for 4 days - can't wait. Especially as it is the first bit of our honeymoon!
  • Thanks everyone for advice
I have booked Venetian Luxury View Suite for 3 nights (to get special deal) - £365.00
Just looking for 27th - 28th October now - Still havent decided if we should change hotels (stay at Bellagio before Venetian)
Bellagio two nights Lake View - £361.00

Is there any significance to the time of 8pm?

We are going to Freemont this Friday but it will be later than 8pm when we get there, going to the Rio for a meal and to the lounge first.

We never managed to get there on our last trip so is it worth going on another night and getting there earlier? Are there any must do things up there or is it just the covered show really?

The light shows start at 8pm and are every hour until midnight. It's old Vegas, so it's quite different from the strip hotels. There are several souvenir shops along Fremont Street and they are generally much cheaper than the strip equivalents.

mookabargirl - u staying at TI? What have you got booked therE?

I booked 2 nights on their non ref offer about 3 weeks ago. Was $95 a night mid week, which I though was a good price for TI.

Thanks - We've seen the show twice before, last year was ok but not brilliant. I did love the atmosphere though and the guy playing piano on the back of the truck was great.

In the Golden Nugget down there, there's a fantastic Italian called Grotto. Cost was about £30 for us both (probably one of our cheapest meals excl buffets). I would highly recommend it. Spinach (and chicken?) canneloni was to die for!
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!

Its not the just the ceiling which is absolutely amazing. Its the atmosphere, the $1 margaritas, the Corona, the old style casinos with the pole dancing on the blackjack table, the live music, performances, cheap souvenirs.

For me it really gets back to basics and shows a good night out without all the extravagance but with the excellent atmosphere and superb feeling of 'real' Vegas.
