I fly out in under 2 weeks... its a business trip, but i'll be taking in as much of the places to visit recommended here as i can. Thankfully the flight, hotel, food etc is all covered by the company so I just have to do a bit of work then hit the poker tables all night!

I cant wait to get out there. It will be my first time in the states too so im very excited although the 11 hour flight im not looking forward too (even if its in the nicer part of the plane). Im a super fussy eater so wont be eating anything on the plane they supply, so ill be living on my own food i can take through with me... i'll be eating the chair in front by the time i get to vegas! Just hoping i can find somewhere close to the hotel that can do me something simple. I'll be looking out for a supermarket when i get there to stock up on food.

I really cant wait, im well excited... like a little kid at christmas! :T

    2. A few Cirque shows were mentioned earlier, does anyone have any good links to reviews so I can see what the shows actually involve to pick the one we'd like most? The Cirque site is vague to say the least. Also, does the show time/day make any real difference in people's experience? Aside from the crowd being more sozzled of course...

Just do a google search for the name of the show and reviews - you'll bring up loads. Or go to tripadvisor.com. Cirque is extremely subjective - some people love it, others hate it. On the Cirque site you can see some clips of each of the shows which may give you an idea what to expect...some people don't get it, others do. Impossible really to say what category a stranger may fall into. :)

I agree with Baz that Mystere is a good starter...but I know some people who hated it (I loved it myself).

As for time - we find that the 10pm shows are a bit too late for us, though they are better if you want to do a proper dinner beforehand.

I still have yet to fiish reading this thread!! So much to read and take in!!!

However we are booking our flights this week!! How exciting!! :)

I am a little nervous though that we will book flights and another airline company goes bust or something!! Especially with flights being so expensive.

Is anyone else feeling nervous about booking flights at the moment??

Nothing to be be nervous about but just make sure that you book through an ATOL protected company or with your credit card. That way your covered should it go tits up- at least then you can still at least get your money back

OK, for those of you who are despairing about the dollar, fear not...I've corrected the situation I think...a week and a half ago or so I walked by my exchange place and saw that it was at $1.835...I decided that as it had gone up a penny or so each day for the last few, I would wait. As you may know, since then, it's bottomed out...and every day I walk by and hang my head in shame over what I have done.

So today I exchanged some at $1.71. I figure that the international markets are just waiting for me to suck it up and admit that it's all my fault. Having done so, I fully expect the price to leap in the next 24 hours.

looks pretty bleak don't it :cry:

as for Fremont street i quite like it down there , but OH hates it. all comes down to personal taste . i hate nightclubs , but can be quite happy slumming it in a grotty pub.

things i like . = Cheap drinks + lively atmos + getting futher into what is Vegas as whole ..

things i understand that people dislike. feels slightly unsafe the further you venture from the Canopy , crowds tend to be less affluent rough and ready type and who simply cannot afford the strip plus attractions cannot live up to the strip .

please let's not anybody fall out of a difference of opinion , this is a friendly thread for all , where all points of view are welcome . ;) except people who hate Vegas but have never been ...thoose guys just don't know what they are missing .:p

Sorry for going off topic but I know quite a few people on here have asked about Portable Media Players. Well, Currys are clearing out quite a few Archos players and I've just bagged a 605 40gb with WiFi for just £90, which is a real bargain (ferf will know this). Best to try and reserve at your local store as there's not many left.

If you're not sure what they are like, have a look here: http://www.archos.com/products/gen_5/archos_605wifi/index.html?country=global&lang=en

    Hope it this helps out.
