Dont know, but Im thinking about buying an iPod Touch for a small, mobile wi-fi device.....maybe consider that as an alternative?
If you do get an iPod Touch you won't regret it. I bought mine last December and I've used it almost everyday. For an all-round device, I don't think there's anything to touch it (pardon the pun).
By the way, I heard Sainsburys were selling the 1st Gen version (like mine) for £129 but not sure if that's still on. Otherwise, check out the Apple refurb site, sometimes they are on there.0 -
where in vegas is the best place to a buy a camera (£200-£300)
I always use https://www.shopping.com to compare prices before I go (or whilst in Vegas). It will take you to the UK site initially but if you click on the USA flag at the bottom you get the US site. I managed to get a great deal last year from Circuit City, on a Panasonic camera.0 -
Thanks ting. Just looking up details of fring with the new Touch - it allows VOIP calls eg to Skype or MSN using the wi-fi - sounds ideal to keep in touch with the tadpoles during our Vegas trip.
Anyone used the Starbucks/ATT free wifi for 30 days when you buy a coffee?illegitimi non carborundum0 -
Maywe are off to vegas on tuesday. flying out of gatwick. staying at the sofitel hotel in the north terminal the night before so we will do the twichlight check in. we will then ask about upgrades as its my girlfriends 40th out there and we will probably get married. dont mind paying a bit for a good upgrade.
also we are staying at the signature. can someone tell me where i check in, inrelation to the mgm grand main reception?
colin
One way upgrade on the Vegas flight from economy to premium are about £275 each, and can only be bought on the day of travel, so not able to do it at twilight check-in. What I do is after checking in, go over to the virgin ticket desk, ask what Premium availability looks like for the next day. If there is any seats left you HAVE to get to the ticket desk at 5am the next morning, I just leave the hotel, take the car to the terminal, buy the tickets and go back to bed for a couple of hours. You do not need to take your OH with you, but you will need her boarding card and passport.
I am mentioning this on the assumption that you did not mean trying to get a free upgrade, that will never happen, VS do not do free anything I am afraid. If you are looking at upgrading to Upper, the cost will be about £1,200 each one wayThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

are they cheaper over in USA? worth waiting until i get there??

Don't know if they are cheaper, but I have the Acer. If you want it for web browsing using a broadband dongle, remember you need to get the XP version, as the Linux system does not support any of the network usb dongles AFAIKThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. okay totally off topic but as it a question you asked about Vegas may i warn you about the appalling customer service i got from ACER when buying in this country , never mind a import.
My £800 Acer laptop broke 4 weeks out of the box . sending it back they promised a speedy repair and to advise me on when it was to be returned .
3 weeks later they still had it and then posted it off without advising me. It never got here , with the courier company DHL claiming someone signed for it when both myself and OH were at work . they produced a siganture that was fradulent
despite the fact that i could prove it was a fraudulent signature, Acer's surly staff said that it was proof they had fulfilled there obligations and said " too bad, goto to Police , we won't talk to you again " .
they also refused to give me the number of any complaints department. DHL would not talk to me , because Acer was the customer so i was out on one very expensive Laptop , that the police admitted , they had very little chance of recovering .
eventually after sourcing a number for Acer customer complaints i finally got to talk to someone reasonable. who talked to DHL and agreed i was the victim in all this . this person then put my case in the hands of a another member of staff because she was moving jobs .
it then took them a week to tell me they could not find me new a computer ( despite them being the Manufactor of them !!!) and would issue me refund . 2 weeks later i had still received no cheque . and was told i would have to wait another 2 weeks for it .
9 weeks after my computer went if for repairs i finally got a cheque !!! the thing had only worked for 3 and half weeks !!!!!
still want to buy and Acer ??? your choice i'm just relating a personal experiance to you .needless to say i'm not writing this on a Acer laptop.
okay the fraud was commited by someone at DHL so The police that investigated all this told me , but i was Acer's customer and they for the most part treated me with pure contempt IMO .
they say you tell 10 people when you have bad service , i know i have cost Acer at least 5 sales by telling that story to people at work .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

I can also vouch for this, their customer service and warranty repair service is totally pants, would NEVER buy an Acer machine.0 -

September5 weeks tomorrow and getting excited now. Bit nervous that the dollar rate keeps dropping, but as I can't influence it, I just have to get over it.
I did book the Venetian with $50 food credit for our last night, as OH said he'd like to go there at some point to stay. Any tips for staying here or at TI (like the west wing shortcut at mgm or anything else you can think of)?
Edit - should say this isn't my first time in Vegas if you don't recognise my name from this and the 2007 thread.Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
Maymookabargirl - u staying at TI? What have you got booked therE?0
