  • I love Ballys and I know other people here too but it isn't everyone's choice. It's not as modern as the other hotels around it and it doesn't really have a theme, but the rooms are large (bigger than most basic rooms around the strip), the staff have always been so friendly to us and we're not big gamblers. The hotel itself connects to Paris too, so that's an added bonus. I would have booked this again for a few nights this trip at double that price, so I'm more than happy with the price. The location is the main draw for Bally's, as it's right across from Bellagio so a great place on the strip. There's also a free shuttle from here that will take you up to the Rio as it's within the same hotel group if you fancy a wander up there.

Maybe some of the other guys can tell what they think so it's not just my opinion - lol

Mookybargirl, thanks for your reply, you explained perfectly and thanks to Ferf too. I will look into Ballys and maybe we will see ya there. I really would like Wyn, Ballagio etc, do like a bit of posh - but Credit Crunch and all that jazz ! Stabbing ....... dont let my parents read that! What will the temps be, roughly, - not too cold I hope.

I'm not sure of temps in Nov other as we've always gone in Sept before, so aside from the temp chart on post 1 by trets, I don't really know. I'm expecting sunny t shirt weather in the daytime, but a bit cooler at night so long sleeves needed. Can anyone give us some advice who's been to Vegas in mid Nov?

hey remember me  , seems like i have been away a few months not a few weeks.

had a mixed trip . good at the start , but i think we definatly tried to cram too much in and travel too far in the time we were there :embarasse ( Colorado , Nebraska , South Dakota , Wyoming , Montana , Idaho and Utah in 10 days  ) plus i have been to Ireland for 4 days after that:undecided

Good God man!!! I feel knackered just reading the list of places, never mind actually doing it!.

Have a good rest and come up with an awesome TR for us. Pretty please.

You can see daily average highs and lows here:

They are just averages of course - last year we went early November and I had to throw loads of shorts and tshirts in the case at the last minute becuase it was about 10 degrees warmer than normal and I had packed for averages.

Welcome back, Trets - I agree that your trip sounds exhausting but I'm sure you saw quite a lot. I hope you got some rest!

And My Fathers Daughter - really look forward to your trip report when you've had a chance to put it together. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

We have been 3 times in November, on the 1st, 2nd and 12th for a week each time.

It was warm enough to lay by the pool and some people were swimming. Shorts and T-shirt most days, but definitely chilly in the morning and evening.

Guys, I'm just about to book my car for the trip from vegas to the canyon. We are going for the nights of 11th Oct and 12th Oct.

My question is do I go for a convertible or not? Booking through airline network the other option is a Chyrsler 300.

The typical weather charts suggests it may be worthwhile but the odd comment on here suggests otherwise. Also its easier to see the views with the top down but if its too cold then we would be sacrificing the better vehicle for a sebring.

    So yah or nay?

    Thanks.

    We had this last November...

If you are going to GC West, a convertible is not a good idea...you will come back with a sandpit on wheels!
The Chrysler 300 was superb, big, luxurious and amazingly cheap.
We did get the 5.7 V8 though - torque heaven!
Weather was quite warm but with a little chill in the morning and late afternoon. I have since heard rumours that they will refuse to insure cars along the GC West route as the road is that bad. Anyone else heard this?
I am going back in 2 weeks but staying in LV for 4 days at the Excalibur. Miffed about the exchange rate now, was getting over 2 dollars to the pound this time last year!

We went last November and had to scrape ice off the windscreen in the morning. Not what I call a little chill. We spent the night of 13th November at an hotel near to the canyon and it was bloody cold after sunset. Just my opinion on the weather. The temperature drops like a stone when night falls.

when we went in 2006, I asked the 'Dollar' chap which way to get to Grand Canyon... he showed me the route all the way to the south rim... I asked him how long it would take me to get to the west rim... he pointed out the T&C which you sign up to which say something like 'no off-roading and not permitted on private tracks' (or something like that) which essentially means you are not covered if you have an accident on the long road if you turn off to go to Grand Canyon West, so this is something that has been around for a while - therefore I suspect they would enforce it if you had an accident across this route...

    always read the T&C you sign up to (i didn't :D )

having said all that, having looked at the new 'Net Flights' website (who use Dollar), I can now no longer see reference to the T&C so either

    a) when we used it (back in the days where it was called "airline network") it was a T&C they had in place and on the change to netflights they've scrapped it (i see you can rent a hummer or merc e350 now as well!!!!)
    b) the guy we asked was mad
    c) they thrust these additional t&c's on you when you sign for the car at the rental depot
