  • Sadly I haven't had the time to be as dedicated as steve and read back all the pages although have tried to glean some tips by searching for my 48 hour stay in Vegas in Sept.

However, I was just wondering if anyone knew of an electronics store in Vegas that sold non ipod mp3s? I've followed the link to the fashion mall and seen the posts on here about the apple store there but have my eye on a replacement creative zen. I've checked out amazon.com as suggested and its retailing there for rrp $121 or amazon price $68. In the UK it is £68(again this is the amazon slightly discounted price). I now just need to identify somewhere where I could pick it up, and ideally at a discount under the $121 if possible :D Does anyone have any pointers of a good store to go to? I might put start a new thread with the question as we are also in San Francisco for 5 nights so could collect it there but thought I would try the collective wisdom of the vegas thread first.

p.s. have got very excited reading through the last 10 pages, wish we had longer than 48 hours now....!!! :j

Has anyone been to the VoodooSteak and also the lounge upstairs at the Rio?

We aren't really into bars and stuff really or clubs or anything too trendy or fashionable but we would like a meal and then to see the strip from the top. We never felt uncomfortable at any of the places we went in Vegas last year as it seems everyone is made welcome everywhere. Just wondering what kind of place its like?

Same with the bar at the top of the Mandalay bay too?
Even if you hadn't had mentioned Mix, i was going to suggest it anyways :D

We didn't eat there, altho we meant to last time we went - it is expensive(ish... compared to where we normally eat! - tho notice they dont put prices on the online menu anymore! -> http://www.mandalaybay.com/images/dining/mix_menu.pdf ). Think a main course was around $40 tho don't quote me.

Anyways, we have been the bar there... went on a Monday night @ 8'ish so there was no cover charge and the 'reserved' signs weren't splattered over all the tables outside (which started to happen @ around 9'ish). Like most bars they reserve the good stuff for 'bottle service' which as a couple we've never really wanted to do unsurprisingly :D

Some fantastic views of the strip up there anyways... it was 2 years ago we went and think a drink cost around $5'ish

Here was a view from our table (not a good piccie tho - my camera doesn't like the dark):

We got a Zen from Wal-mart last year. The Wal mart we went to was at Rainbow and Spring Mountain, but there are several around Vegas. Can't remember how much it was, but approximately half the UK price. There is a Best Buy on Maryland Parkway near to Boulevard Mall. There is a Fry's Electronics at the south end of the strip close to the Las Vegas outlet mall.

    Hope that helps.

I think these guys have stores in Vegas (they are both national so should do):
    www.Frys.com
    www.bestbuy.com

not sure where they are but i had a quick look and they do sell Zen's --- not sure if the one you want is on there though!

    Don't forget there'll be a sales tax in Vegas too :) (7%'ish???)

Excellent posts from everyone, loads of useful information. Recently found out, my favourite British rock band, are playing Vegas:T, on the day we fly home . Anyone know any good bars that play live rock music in Vegas?

I'd be interested in your replies for this.....last time we went to Vegas we had a teenager with us so we wern't able to visit anywhere other than the Harrah's Carnival court where the Crashers were playing most nights.....my daughter thought they were brill and dont get me wrong they were good but this time round I'm looking for a bit more variety.
Hope you get some good recomendations

Harry Potter films are filmed in Watford though

But they are Warner Brothers films - so (at least at the time of the 1st one) had a prominent display on the Warner Brothers tour. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
