I see your question has already been answered, but just thought i would add it is where the skywalk is (glass walk out over the canyon) which is also very expensive
Not sure if its still the case, but they dont let you take photos on the skywalk......instead you have to buy their photos, presumably taken by the official photographer and copied on a memory stick.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
My Travel from manchester premier class last year was great, flying with them again at the end of August but cattle class, so i'll let you know how good or bad they are then
just comeback last week with thom,as cook /Manchester in cattle class was nt that bad enough ;leg room try and get isle seats especially on the way back as u will have to wake mr r mrs grumpylol0 -
AprilI allways suspected the helicopter tours from Vegas did not go to the Grand canyon proper, its a long drive to Grand Canyon National Park and would cost a bomb to get there in a helicopter.
well we have been into the canyon direct from Vegas . not sure which part , but you have the remember it is almost incomprehensable in it's scale. we also saw Hoover damm , lake mead , bowl of fire and a fly down the strip in the same trip .
we went with HeliusaBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

we went with Heliusa also, the chap who owns it is from sheffield if I recall correctly. i thought they were really professional, we were rained off on one trip (we did two the strip night flight and the canyon tour) well i say rained off it was thunder and lightening, they refitted us back in, done the whole collect us and drop us back off thing again, AND upgraded us to the full day tour with a stop off at the cowboy ranch and horse riding at no cost (i didnt do the horse riding the wife did) we had breakfast with the cowboys and they played instruments.
Tried to teach me to lasoo (typo?) but im still rubbish.
Im just hoping they are not one of the companies that have stopped their early morning flights as we were hoping to go again. Could not rate them highly enough. also on the night flight of the strip you get 'champagne'0 -

I've posted earlier that they have increased leg room in cattle class from 29" to 33" as yet I havent spoke to anyone who has flown both, premier and cattle class to see if their is a comparison. I HAVE spoken to someone who flew long haul with My Travel in February and then in May (both cattle class) and said that difference was notable and really made the flight much better.0 -

It was great, the sets both reclined and had great leg room, champagne for take off, an extra range of tv channels, nice travel pack and the old hot towel, free drinks all flight and lovely food. Only thing that was really odd was that you were expected to pay for pringles (so no pringles for me, im not paying for an upgrade and paying for crisps).
It was an extra £250 per person for the return flight (LAST YEAR) this year we looked at it and it was a lot more expensive this year, so much that we didnt consider it and thats why i cant recall how much it was going to be.
For £3000 we got the premier flights, train for us both to manchester overnight hotel in manchester, the canyon trip and the nightflight we also got transfers. though i would recommend as a MUST, anyone going premier or first class, dont use the transfer service on the way out, you will be first off the plane, you will get through passport control first and you will get your bags first (I even had to have a Visa authorised - due to being charged for being drunk many many years ago -stupid i know) and will still had to wait for over an HOUR AND A HALF until everyone else got through and was on the caosch ready to go - seriously i could have walked it quicker0 -
My wife and I are just back from Vegas and here's a few tips we found on the way:
Everywhere in Vegas people are offering you timeshare. When we were running low on cash at the end of the trip we decided to see if it was worth going to a presentation in exchange for one of the bribes they entice you with (in our case $175 in gaming vouchers we were told you could exchange for cash) and it worked fine!
We went to a presentation with "Grandview", from the Luxor. You need to pay $40 up front (per couple) to guarantee that you turn up to the presentation. You are taken as a group to a presentation centre where they give you your own sales rep to try and flog you a timeshare, you get a free lunch too! We went in with the "No Way" mentality but you will find them very convincing. We didnt sign up as you had to sign there and then and they seem to find ways of slashing the price about 3 further times when you say no.
When you get to the end of the presentation if you want the cash, (it says on your forms you cant exchange them for cash, but you can!) choose gaming vouchers for the slot machines. You are given vouchers that you take to the casino cashier to exchange for slot machine vouchers, put the vouchers into any slot machine then straight away push "cash out" and thats it - $175 (minus your $40 outlay)
The presentation lasts 2 -3 hours.
Also here is the current offers being offered by Casino Players Clubs that require no, or little spend by you:
MGM (Luxor, Excalabur etc) - $10 free on most slot machines - You have to enter $1 bill into the machine to activate it. - This was the only offer I profited from, I won about $25!!
Planet Hollywood - One free spin on a giant slot machine per day to win $1million and a further $1million shopping spree
Casino Royale - $50 to be used on special slot machines to win up to £5000. Only the jackpot pays out on these machines so its unlikely you will win.
Hooters - $100 to be played on special slot machines with a jackpot of about $5000 if I remember correctly. This is on $2 slot machines and only the jackpot pays out. You also get a free $50,000 spin on a special slot machine per day.
The rest I found didnt really offer anything for free, eg Tropicana offers $50 free on special slots but you have to spend $20 to get you the $50.
If you want to learn how to play any of the table games, Excalabur offer the following free lessons everyday, which were very informative:
11am - Roulette
11.30am - Blackjack
12 noon - Craps
2pm - Texas Holdem Poker
Afterwards Craps and Poker lessons they offered a $3 minimum bet game at Craps to get you playing or a $20 "buy in" at poker to give you practice. I declined on both, especially sine there was a regular poker player sitting in on the lessons with his wife who wanted to learn - obviously he was very keen for a "practice" game afterwards!
Casino Royal offer $5 table games and are located on the Strip. Most others are $10 minimum.
The Imax is closed at the Luxor permanantly, even although they just have a closed sign that appears it is just closed for the night.
Tropicana has the Titanic exhibition that is moving to the Luxor soon - its excellent.
It also has the Bodies exhibition that we didnt go to.
I'm sure there are more tips but I cant think of them just now, will post later if I do.0 -

Welcome back and it sounds like you had a good trip!
On the timeshares thing, I do know some people who have also taken advantage of them when they had the time...I have heard some horror stories though about really hard sells and abusive language and being more or less stranded for several hours waiting for transport back...so there are good ones and bad ones - looks like you found one of the good ones and it worked out well for you.
On the Planet Hollywood free slot pull you can also win free slot play (I've only ever won $5, but still!) free Stomp Out Loud tickets (lady in front of me won these once - I was gutted as it's what I really wanted - next to the $1,000,000).Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
January/FebruaryWhat was the lowest price that the time share people offered you?? Just out of interest.
I was considering one a while back, are they worth the money??Vegas Trips....Feb 2007, Nov 2007, September 2008, August 2009, September 2011..........:beer:0 -
I fly to America next week, i'm really excited! It's my first trip to the States. I am staying for 7 days in New York and 5 days in Las Vegas, i wish i'd discovered this site before i'd booked and i could have saved some money! I've loved reading all the tips and about everyones trips
I have a quick question, as i'm only in Vegas 5 days and my hotel is already paid for, is it worth me going to the Grand Canyon? I didn't realise how far away it was when i booked and that it's going to be a full day trip, i've already splashed out for the hotel, i'm staying at The Bellagio so i can't really afford a helicopter trip, is it really worth me taking a day out to do it? Or should i just do it if i come back another time and plan it better?
Also, i'm vegetararian, am i going to starve in Vegas?0
