We were going to stay in the MGM Grand but I'm concerned it will be too big and it'll grate after awhile.
What's the Monte Carlo like? Or the Mirage? (I know we might struggle at that price) We don't fancy New York New York or Luxor.
I'd like somewhere on the strip with good access, an imposing 'Vegas' presence with good pools. Thoughts?
okay while New York New York is a fantastic place to stay , it's has pretty small pool, so your probably right to rule it out. i would not cross the luxor off the list just yet though.
you should AVOID Monte Carlo , unless you are very sure the massive 24 hour a day construction going on next door is not going to bother you. it is pretty cheap at the moment for this reason.
Mirage is great downstairs , rooms are perfectly acceptable , but are a little aged , and don't have wow factor. are sure you cannot afford it we bagged weekday rooms for $89 last year and $120 for weekends.
other than that Treasure Island might be in budget , as should the Flamingo .
if a pool is very high on your list , you should defiantly consider Mandalay Bay , it might be pushing it budget wise , but you never know what may appear for your dates . there have been a fair few $100 a night offer about recently .check all the hotel offer links in post #1 Mandalay bays only real negative is that it anchors the south end of the strip , so can feel a little removed from the Hurley burly of the center strip , because there is little foot traffic past it ( people tend arrive via the free monorail or car. ). It's really not that big deal IMO, we stayed there ( in the adjoining THE Hotel ) and really loved it and didn't find it any trouble getting to the mid strip .
if you do plum for the MGM grand , just take some comfy shoes and always check you have everything you need before leaving the room.
good luck and let us know when you are going , you can do a countdown clock remember ...see post #4Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
November/DecemberThe Mirage rooms are all being refurbished, and the regular rooms are all scheduled to be completed by September. If you go to the trip advisor site there are traveller photos of them, and they are so much better than the old rooms.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0

One of the conditions of me being allowed back to LV is we get more leg room, we went with Virgin last time. We can afford decent seats but still dont want to pay over the odds for them. Can you get quotes for the premium seats on Mytravel's web site or do you have to phone them.
we booked in store with going places so i dont know about the online choices, it ws cheaper when the wife looked for last year that way. after booking they sent us a letter offering the upgrade for legroom, but by the time we got onto them they only had premier left (allegedly)
I mentioned before that my travel have increased the leg room on all long haul flights from 29 inches to 33. last year the premier class had a leg room of 35", for the extra money and the difference I'm not so sure it would be money well spent this year. But only time will tell0 -

i like the fact that with the Mirage you can get pretty much to most places without really having to go outside too, straight over into harrahs and on to the monorail and can get to either caesars or Ti using the shops as a link or the TI monorail.0 -

Titanic & Bodies are both moving to the Luxor, they have a 10 year contract, and will be located in the Atrium, with the removal of the IMAX theatre and King Tut museum0 -
