For anyone who finds themselves at the Hilton - I really do recommend signing up for a players club card. I just had another mailer from them for up to 4 nights (including weekends) for $199 plus 6 free buffets, 2 free cocktails, spa admission and some other freebies.

we've barely played the slots at the Hilton, and they're the only casino I've seen that actually sends mailers to the UK.

So if you're there and going to play the slots anyway, sign up for a card and maybe you'll get some offers in the mail to use on a future trip...but by all means don't go there for this purpose expecting anything in the future. :)

And if anyone manages to actually play the new Star Trek slots there, let me know how they are...we waited around for about 45 minutes or so and the same people were playing them...so disappointed as they're the only ones anywhere in Vegas so far and we really wanted to try them.

Oh - and for those looking for the new Indiana Jones slots - they had them at Sam's Town and Gold Coast a few weeks ago. I'm sure the other casinos will have them shortly but for now I think these are the only two places that have them.

Its my DH 40th in October 2009 and I want to take him to Vegas for a week. I want to book it asap so that I can start to budget early and put the money aside. I've just started to look and telephoned a co called invegas.co.uk but the lady I spoke to said that you can only book the airlines 11 months in advance. Who did you go with and would you recommend them

thats correct you cannot book untill 11 months out

BMI are my fav if you can afford them , they tend to be expensive most of the year though.

as for Virgin i'm not going repeat my rants:mad: , you will have go back through the last couple of weeks for them.

The flight is the hard part ...... with the price of oil at the moment i would say £400-£450 is probably as good as you will get direct ,even booking a way out with virgin using money and miles . if you have any intention of using Virgin sign up for the Virgin Atlantic CC now so you can fullfill the activity requirements for a money and miles fare. see post #5 of this thread for details .

once your flight is booked you don't need to fret about where you will be staying straight away . book something reasonably priced direct ( and therefore fully refundable) then , sit back and take advantage of any offers you like as they come in . 12 weeks out is when they will really start to appear for your dates.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Re Grand Canyon Tour, we used Scenic Airlines for our tour, fixed wing flight from Vegas and comprehensive coach tour of the canyon with two stops for sightseeing and photographs and a buffet lunch. We thought it was worth every penny, from memory it cost £150.00 each. This should be the link. http://www.scenic.com/saws1gc_deluxe.htm

cheers stew - out of interest has anyone here used this company for the tour to west rim which involves a flight to the canyon over hoover dam and then a helicopter to the bottom of the canyon and a boat trip down the colarado river? looks very good for £160

What Trets said - and be really careful before booking through that website - they sell package deals which may cost quite a bit more than booking direct with the airline and hotel.

I'm personally really suspicious about a website that gives you 'from' prices and you then have to call to get details as to exact prices and details on the flights, etc. They may have some good deals, but I would get all the info first, then check the component parts yourself to double check on whether the package is more than booking separate.

I did it a week last Saturday, I would most definitely advise against it, the 'West Rim' is not the Grand Canyon proper, it's not even the Colorado. It is overly expensive for what you get and is basically the Hulalapai tribe fleecing you for every penny. Go to the South Rim, which is in the Grand Canyon National Park. Look on Trip advisor for more info about 'Grand Canyon West'

I see your question has already been answered, but just thought i would add it is where the skywalk is (glass walk out over the canyon) which is also very expensive and the west rim is only about 90 mins drive from Vegas.

I havent been to the west rim but I have been to the canyon national park which IMO is a must, however you do it.

I allways suspected the helicopter tours from Vegas did not go to the Grand canyon proper, its a long drive to Grand Canyon National Park and would cost a bomb to get there in a helicopter.
