    Hi all. new boy here

i am looking into taking the missus to vegas for her 40th and i am after some advice?

any comments would be greatly appreciated

What dates are you looking at?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

had a great time and will stick by Virgin it wasnt the best flight back due to them having to offload all the luggage due to someone not turning up, this took about 2 hours which delayed the flight whilst we were sat on the plane.

However the perks of flying direct more than make up for that 2 hours in my opinion unless you are actually going to spend a day or two in Chicago/LA

Great trip will actually write a proper trip report at the weekend!

Really enjoyed the MGM Grand and TI though TI might be a bit noisy if you were to stay there when you first land and are still getting used to the timezone, Mandalay bay was brilliant and Excalibur exceeded my expectations

i have looked on expedia and found the following price for 6 nights in the Bellagio. do you think this is a good deal?

total for six nights in the Bellagio is £2,080.56 standard delux room

    flights are

    on Us airways

depart Gatwick 12.30 arrive las vegas 20.26 but connecting in philadelphia

    return

depart las vegas 11.29 arrive gatwick 09.10 connect in philadelphia.

price includes £90 insurance for both of us.

is this a good price, are US airways anygood?

finally is the Bellagio all its cracked up to be?

any comments would be greatly appreciated

All I can say is that Ive been on that US Airways flight from Gatwick to Philly.
The plane is old, tatty and not very comfortable (and we were business class)
No in seat entertainment, not even communal TV's, but a projector and screen at the front of the cabin.

Ipod/PSP was a lifesaver for me

Air crew were as old as the plane too, but were quite friendly and helpful. Food wasnt the best. But, at the end of the day, it got me from london to philly and back in one piece, luggage arrived safely and the delays were minimal.

have a great trip to vegas, its still 11 months til i go :o(

A quick google search on 'us airways reviews' will give you some more info, and its not pleasant reading. Our flight was paid for by the client so there wasnt a lot we could do about it but grin and bear it. If there is a simalar priced flight on another airline I would take it.

Without exact dates it's hard to say if it's a good deal or not.

Would suggest that once you get your package quote you go and check the price of the flights you've chosen with the airline directly...then check the price of the hotel directly...and see how it compares (remember hotels are priced per room/per night - not per person/per night in Vegas). It's too early for October deals I think, but you can at least get an idea what the hotels will cost. In most cases you will find that the package is the more expensive option...especially if you keep your options open and look for hotel deals.

As for the insurance - you can get an annual multi-trip for a couple (including America) travel insurance policy for not much more than the £90 you've been quoted for this one trip.

Thanks Steff - We're trying out Caesars this trip...going to try to upgrade to the Augustus Tower so we can see what Trets was on about for ourselves. :)

Can't believe yours is so close now too - how exciting!

    Ferf have a great trip.

As for insurance I have a family worldwide yearly policy for less than £50,no baggage though as that is covered on my house policy.
