    Hi!!
I've been lurking for ages, read this thread back to front.
We're going to Vegas on Tuesday 17th June, its my second time there, and am mid-strip this time.
Cannot make my mind up whether to get a car for a couple of days or not though?
I've done Hoover Dam/Grand Canyon before, and is it really worth a car for going to Primm when the mall at the south end of the strip is just as good, and I may as wll get taxi to downtown if required?

    OMG, that's amazing!

Unfortunately my flight dates mean three out of my four nights (23 - 26 Aug) are some of the few nights that aren't in the offer :(.

I currently have the Paris for £350. Is the Venetian worth an extra £120?
Book four single night stays, using different cards/names, and claim four lots of
    $25 gaming credit
That reduces the difference somewhat. Just means you check out and back in each morning.

we arrive the day after you do. :)

It's a personal preference, like most things in Vegas really...we would never go without a car as we really like the freedom it gives us - if we want to take off and go out to the outlying casinos like Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch, Cannery, Sunset Station, etc...we can...if we want to go shopping and not have to rely on alternate transport, we can...we load up on bottles of water and snacks for the room at a local grocery store so we don't have to buy as we need them...and we like exploring. :) But it's not scary at all for me to drive as I spent most of my adult life in the US.

But others would prefer not to have the burden of the car, especially in a place where the drinks flow so freely and there's so much to do which is walkable or easily reached by a taxi or bus.

The outlet in Primm is OK - we've never gotten loads there, but always pick up a few things. There is a shuttle that can get you there as well though there is a fee...link and coupon if it helps:

    http://www.fashionoutletlasvegas.com/shuttle.htm

If your only purpose for getting a rental is to go to Primm for the outlet and to get downtown, then I woudln't think it would be worth it...but if you want to explore more than that then it might be.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I think the promo is only available one of the nights - so not sure if they could get 4 x$25 credit?

    welcome to MSE .

personally after having a car , i would always have one when visiting from now on.

you can rely on the taxis monorails ect for night time when boozing , but there is a lot more out there than just the strip like ferf says, and it is great to go where you want in a nice air cond 4x4 . plus just crusing the strip is fun on it's own.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
  • I spent two nights there and left the car parked the whole time.

    Ty all for you help,

I have booked the Monte Carlo initially to keep "her indoors" happy that i have something :)

I used a fatwallet link, but how do you pick up the bits that go with the deal free food vouchers for example? Do i get them when i book in?

Any body recommend or dis the Monte Carlo?

    Regards

    Steve
yep you will get vouchers at check in. these type of extras are not usually hard to come by other means , they often hand them out for free anyway . make sure you ask about them at check in.

The Main Negative about Monte Carlo is that the City Center project is being constructed next door. this is why it seems to be cheap and has loads of offers. get a room on the opposite side if you end up staying there. other than that it seems a perfectly accecptable place IMO , the pool often gets rave reviews and the rooms are not moaned about .
Stayed there from 1st to 6th June. We were overlooking the pool and the construction site. The work goes on 24/7, but we weren't really bothered with excessive noise. The pool area gets very shady in the afternoon due to the construction, but I was glad of a bit of shade.

As for the perks, we got a voucher booklet at check in with the $10 free slot play and some money off coupons for the food court. To get our $20 or $30 food credit we had to just eat somewhere that was included in the offer, (Cafe, buffet and brew pub come to mind but there may have been more.) and charge our bill to the room. I'd stay there again.

checkout is 11am, checkin from 3pm...so still have to wait around with your luggage for 4 hours each day

No, but they do tours...I really wanted to go on one (Pebbles may remember our friend Norm talking about the tours over breakfast one day)...it sounded fascinating. Like many things to do in Vegas it got put on the 'to do one day' list.

Yes I remember it well. I must say I was a bit surprised that they did tours. It's on our to do list too.
