MayI'm sitting here, 5 am, reading these threads along with the Orlando ones feeling really sorry for myself.
First time in over 20 years I have no holiday planned or even have one to look forward to on the horizon.
Cannot fly at present, health reasons, looks like motoring to South of France for me, will spend more, rude people and loads of mossies.
'OH! woe is me!!!:rotfl:
Just another thing to cheer me up sitting in front of my wide open patio doors sun streaming in and its bloody freezing!
Now what else can I moan about!
I know, I will go to Poundland later and spend a £1 on the Roc aftershave balm, coz it sends my silver beard orange and gives everyone else a Larf!Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Hi, guys,
I have just booked 2 cirque early evening shows for the 2 days we will be in Vegas ( yes, I know) at the MGM and NYNY. But I would really like to catch the fremont shopping street and light show one of the nights. I am staying at the MGM Grand. I thought of booking the shows for early evening so that it is night by the time we leave and we can see the neons etc.
So my question is: the best to get to Fremont street is by taking a taxi after the show? Or is there a better way to get there?
On the following day, to go to the middle of the strip to the Bellagio and Flamingo area, again: should I take a taxi after the show? or is it too slow and I am better of walking, even though it must be far away (you guys have really endoctrinated me concerning the distances in LV!!)?
PS: mgm grand late july for $59 including $35 credit and 2 free inner tubes, cirque KA 99$+tax seats for $70, Zumanity for 50$ down from $75+tax. THANK YOU, everyone :T!! These are great savings, and I could not have done it without you.
Note to atro1: I am so sorry you cannot fly this year. Everyone doing their countdowns...
But if you're driving to the south of france why not stop before you get there and visit the lovely French and German border. It is such a lovely area and so overlooked. No mossies that I can remember!! Just google Colmar in France, for example, and you can see for yourself. Sorry to barge in, but it seems to me the south of france can be so chaotic and expensive in the Summer and there are such nice places closer to home. Anyway, hope you are feeling better soon and can join in the planinng!0 -
Atro - how about a cruise to the Baltics, on a nice ship with an onboard casinoillegitimi non carborundum0

Personally, I think a taxi is the best way to get downtown - even if it's not the cheapest...others prefer the CAT bus but I take busses at least 5 days a week in London so I avoid them when I can on holiday.
As for getting to Bellagio/Flamingo from MGM/NYNY - I would walk myself, though you don't say when you will be going...if during the summer it can still be very, very hot after dark so maybe not. I would say it's probably a 15 minute walk or so to Bellagio. If I didn't walk, and if I was starting at MGM and wanting to go to Flamingo, personally I would use the monorail if there were 2 people or less in my group. More than 2 people, I would taxi...less than 2, monorail...but if you are starting at NYNY - then walk to Monte Carlo - pop inside to cool down if necessary, then onto Bellagio and points beyond. But if it's too hot for that then taxi as no point in hauling all the way over to MGM to get on the monorail.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
