Anyway, if anyone's interested and wants any more advice about this or gambling in general then let me know.
I think I will skip your advice if you don't mind. House edge on roulette is 5.26% (not 2.7%) because most all except for the Strat. have a double zero. Craps has a better edge than almost any JOB on the strip, (except for the 3 9-6 JOB $1 min seats at the Wynn) play the wrong side pass and the house edge is about 1.39% even if you play just the pass line the house edge is only 1.41% and if you take the odds it's a free bet, no house edge at all!! Then of course the best game is blackjack, 6 deck dealer stands on soft 17 has a house edge of .5% if you play perfect basic strategy. We can all exadurate by giving out stupid bets people can make, if you don't play perfect JOB the house edge is enormous, and again I repeat, the only reason that video poker has such a low edge is because of the royal payout at max credits, and the expectation of that is 1 in 40,000 hands.
    just saying
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Stew68, that was a great trip report, especially since you did not focus a lot on gambling, which is not the reason I am going to LV, so it was great to read your posts!! I am so looking forward to going!!

Quick help: I've booked the MGM for $69 a night with a public offer, but now I see this offer for player's card for $59... I have a player's card number, since I have alreayd enrolled online. I do not have the card physically with me but plan on collecting it on arrival.

My $69 rate came down from $89 I had originally booked. I called the resevration line, explained I saw a rate decrease and they reduced my rate.
Has anyone called them with this question, that is mentioning they have enrolled in the players' card, and are aware the price is lower (a friend who visits mgm often mentioned this ;)) and would like this rate? The cost of the call is miniscule relative to the saving... I might just call them and see, but was wondering if you have any experience with this.

If not, how easy is it to get the rate honoured once you check in using a "brand new" player's card?

    TIA

They are people who stand all along the strip with little cards advertising "escorts". They slap or flick one card against another to attract your attention.

    Ferf,

I didn't mention how we did with the slots for a good reason, we didn't win a lot, we had a few victories here and there though.

Slot machines to play?? I don't know what is new but we enjoyed playing slots with good & fun bonuses. Here's a few pointers.

Lemmings, Robin of Sherwood (I think thats the name, something similar if not), Top Gun (only found in Wynn and Sahara). Star Wars and Wizard of Oz machines were fun as well. Never found the indiana Jones one which is supposed to be around somewhere. We also played a bit of video poker, in particular 50 or 100 hands at a time, betting 1 cent a hand. This meant 20 dollars lasted forever and a few drinks came our way at the same time, the Palazzo had the best machines for those.

One other thing for anybody going over soon, don't mention the gas prices, they're paying just over $4.00 a gallon!!!! Poor people.......

Sorry just remembered, for those of us not up on gambling and would like some lessons, I noticed that the Excalibur seemed to be best for lessons in Craps, Poker @ Roulette. Mostly done in the morning.

Also if anybody is thinking of combining Vegas with LA to do the theme parks let me know, did most of them when I was there.

I know some people who made MGM reservations which required a Players Club card and they had no problems at check-in with their "brand new" card. At check-in they also didn't asked for the card and everything was fine.

as mentioned in the Guide ...Page 1 of the fatwallet thread FAQ number #4 answers this question pretty well ;)

your a member of the playing club , even if it just online at the moment, so ring them up quote the number and see what happens. worst that can happen is that you stay on the rate you currently have.

i remember last year a amazing Planet Hollywood offer for players club members came along, and someone booked it without a card or membership.they were a little nervous about it , but at check in no one asked a thing about it .

$59 for the MGM Grand sweet ;) i bet you wouldn't get £30 a night if you went to your travel agent :D

    Hi everyone,

Just a quick word of warning regarding internal US flights. In Feb I booked to fly one-way from Vegas to SF on 1st August. Got a fair price with US Airways, about £45 each. Anyway, for some reason, logged into my reservation today and the flight schedule had been changed so it was flying indirect, via Phoenix (taking 4 hours for what was 90min). I have not been contacted about this change, even though they had my email address.

Obviously I have cancelled with a full refund but it may be worth anyone with similar flights booked, just check to make sure that nothing has changed.

    Hope this helps.

We've been looking for this one as well and my husband found it's at Sam's Town using an online slot finder - so far we can't find the video version anywhere closer to the strip (Orleans has the 5-reel mechanical version but we played that some time ago at MGM)...so a trip to Sam's Town may be on the cards for us. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
