MayWonder if you will still be saying the same about Virgin after your return flight, my outbound flight wasnt so bad but the return was HELL, but if I do it again I now know the best seats are in the toilet...thanks trets:rotfl:The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. AprilI can't seem to find the toilet seats as a seating option!! Don't let the secret out to much, people will be lining up outside for there turn, including me and my wife;) What film would you watch on your Archos while sitting there, mine might be Gone With The Wind
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Going to stick up for Virgin here we flew out about 7-8 days ago and it was fine, flew BA LHR to LAX and whilst the service was better Virgins seats were far nicer which for me is far far more important.
only complaint of the flight which wasnt virgins fault is we had to wait an hour to take off after we had boarded, however by the time we landed we were only 20 mins late, had to wait about 45 mins to clear customs, however this was much more friendly and less zoo like than LAX was by a mile (where we waited about an hour last time)
LAX was also pretty long queue for Border control when we arrived. it would have been a lot quicker but a lot of french people were in the queue in front of us , i swear over 50% had there forms filled out incorrect, but none got sent to the back of the queue . one guy with wife and 3 kids in tow was at the desk for over 20 mins because he kept having to re do things on is VWP form . when we did eventually get to the officer , she was pretty nice , but told us they were having people wait 2 hours earlier in the day . something to consisder if you are thinking of flying into LABetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

MayJust priced flights for next April/May with bmi ABZ-MAN-LAS and they are...... wait for it...............
over £1700 each!!!
I thought it was just bmi's silly pricing at times, but I also checked Airline Network and they were coming up at £1500-1600 each for indirect flights! What the **** is going on? No way will I be going back to LV at those prices and we normally go at that time of year as it is usually cheaper.
I have a ton of bmi Diamond Club miles to use, but there are only one or two flight a year showing and usually without a corresponding return flight. Don't think I'll ever be able to use them.0 -
Virgin gatwick/vegas flights for next april (without miles) are now over £700, when the march flights were released they were only £400. It looks like they are only going to go higher as well, I wont be going again at those prices0

it's the fuel thing thats doing this i suspect . until it comes down you might not get a reasonable priced flight. that said they won't sell them at that price , so unless they are going to fly with half empty planes (which they might or they might start grounding planes) then you will still probably see prices that are at least affordable.I have a ton of bmi Diamond Club miles to use, but there are only one or two flight a year showing and usually without a corresponding return flight. i'm sure someone once posted the site that allows you to search for reward flights ( Stoneman ???) cause i remember someone saying that a a very rare upper class virgin seat was coming up , that could be bagged. if anyone can post info on this ....much obligedBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Mayif you are in Virgin Flying Club you can do a search on their available reward flights, including the upper class where you need 100,000 points
There is a flight available outward on July 12th, returning July 26th...you still have to pay for taxes, fees and surcharges as well, which is £3020 -

Out of curiosity I checked our dates for October which we booked not too long ago and they've gone up by 23% between 23.04.08 and now...so glad we booked when we did as we're paying for 4 tickets for that trip!
I think I agree with you - if it costs us £700 each in the future that may change our perspective on things...either that or we may finally consider indirect flights depending on how the price compares.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Maywww.expertflyer.com has a facility to check most airlines for reward seats, but you do have to pay to subscribe. As for Virgin, as pennylane says look on the "spending miles" tab it actually brings up the whole month view of what is available re rewards seating. If you are going to Vegas go via LAS or SFO, in my view it doesn't seem to cost much more, and there is FAR more availability for using your miles in upperThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot.
