There is a travelodge for $60 a night and about 6 minute easy walk to the strip, across the road from airport but you do not hear planes.0
-
There is also a travelodge on the strip but don't know the rate.0

OMG, that's amazing!
Unfortunately my flight dates mean three out of my four nights (23 - 26 Aug) are some of the few nights that aren't in the offer.
I currently have the Paris for £350. Is the Venetian worth an extra £120?0 -

I haven't stayed at either - but Paris is (I assume) a standard room and Venetian would be a suite with a separate living room sort of area...so probably depends on whether the extra space is worth it to you?
Here's the floorplan of the standard Venetian suite.
https://secure.venetian.com/Resnet/roominfo/rm_venetian_luxury_remodel_f.html
and the description:- Approximately 650 square feet
- 130 square foot Bathroom
- Sunken Living Room
- Two 32" plasma televisions
- 17” LCD television in the bathroom
- Roman tub with separate glass-enclosed shower.
- Full-sized sofa-sleeper, "based on availability"
- Dining table with seating for three
- Oversized coffee table and ottoman
- Private work area with:
- Personal fax / printer / copier
- Dual-line telephone
- Wireless high-speed internet access - Two DVD players
- CD player / alarm clock
- Plush robes and comfortable slippers
- Remote-controlled Roman shades and curtains
But £30/night is £30/night extra at the end of the day...

I think this deserves a few
Cracking deal Grommit.
Certainly is a cracking deal, and another indication of how the credit crunch is affecting Vegas - flights maight be expensive but I haven't seen hotel prices this low for many many years.0 -
I'm so so tempted! My husband is saying it's entirely up to me, and I should book "whatever will make me happy" (please note, he's not including a suite at the Wynn or the MGM Skyloft in that statement). I'm sure that's just reverse psychology!
I keep swinging between:
1. A room is just a room and I won't be in it that much, and my pennies would be better spent on entertainment
2. A gorgeous suite would be fantastic!!!!0 -

Yep, exactly what I would be swinging between...I would probably now be at the point of trying to figure out if I could cut back on something before or after the trip and save the extra £120 on some non-holiday things over a few weeks in order to justify the extra cost on the room for the trip...because I am the queen of justification....'if I could save £20/week on the shopping....'
I suppose I would also be considering location...personally, we like the Paris/Ballys area and spend most of our time there...so I might wonder if I would want to be further north.
Also, my husband would probably be suggesting the exact same thing and leaving it all up to me...no pressure.
Good luck with your decision.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
We're going from Sunday 10th Aug to 14th Aug and typically its ended up being at the same time as a convention so a lot of the good deals aren't available for the dates such as this one at the Venetian.
Still holding back from making any booking in the hope that I get a cheaper rate at one of the hotels around the mid strip area rather than having to settle for the deals at MGM or the Luxor.
Although the deal for $99 at Palms Place was tempting me, but being off the strip is not what I was wanting to do ideally for a first trip to Vegas.0 -
