Flying direct from Manchester is looking like its going to cost too much. So I'm going to have to make a stop on the way, I've never done this connecting flight thing and I'm quite nervous about it  .
Ive had a reasonable quote to stop in Philadelphia. Ive just got a few questions.....

The transfer times are quite short between flights (2 hours outbound and 1 hour inbound) is there a chance that a delay could mean we miss our connecting flight? and what happens if this occurs?
Whats the procedure for changing flights regarding luggage and immigration etc?

Is there anything else I should be aware of? Sorry for all the questions.

    Rich :o

i assume this flight is with US Airways as their Hub is Philly. we flew to Boston with a connection in Philly 1st last year ( the price of using airmiles on the dates we wanted) . we were delayed 2 hours out of our departure airport Manchester , they simply booked us on a later flight to Boston.

The long and short of it is, if you miss your connection and have booked the flights under the sam e booking , the airline is Obligated to get you to your destination. ask how often there are flights from Philly for LAS to know how likely it is you will be speedily despatched to LAS , if you have any problems at Philly.

i was worried about doing this and was convinced we would be arrive in Boston with our Bags having got lost somewhere along the way , but it all went like it should.

My Travel / Thomas cook flights ....(note looks like the Saturday flights are about to start !!!! so you will also be able to search 11 nights ect , but be aware you may end up picking people up at places like Glasgow ..make sure you ask a agent to before you book )

    departing on

    7/05/ 7nights = £289 14 nights = £299

    11/5/ 7 nights = £344 14 nights = £362

    18/5/ 7nights = £288 14 nights = £353

    21/5 7 nights = £531 14 nights = £526
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I usually pop over at least once a month for a long weekend, although this month is very busy at work, so going twice in June to make up for it....:D

Got concert tickets for Cher, Elton John and George Michael...

God, I am so jealous!!! Do you live in the USA or travel from the UK?

I jet off regularly too, but usually only make it as far as Spain. We are having two Vegas trips this year though. And I'm still jealous. ;)

    Trip report updated HERE

I've had some issues with the Palazzo, but we got upgraded to a Fortuna Suite which is MASSIVE! Hoping to post some photos on Holiday Truths when I get home.

Just back from Mon Ami Gabi for my birthday meal and it was excellent.

Re needing a jacket or cardi at night. If you are going to a show then I would say Yes, take one as some of the theatres are very chilly. One of the worst was Wynn when we saw Spamalot, it was freezing. The Jersey Boys Theatre at the Palazzo last night was OK though.

I wore a jacket tonight to sit on the patio at MAG, but I didn't need it as it was warm.

Temps are in the low to mid 80's during the day and around 60 at night.

We had issues at the palazzo as well. have read your report and one thing was the same as you , lack of water pressure in the bathroom (shower and taps) on the the 36th floor.

issues at the MGM were that I struggled to get a NON smoking room

If anyone can travel at a moments notice the fligt from Manchester to LV is down below £260 for tomorrow - not much different to the last minute "bargains" last year.

I don't think that necessarily means anything will happen soon. The Aladdin was in chapter 11 for five years or more before the change to Planet Hollywood. I think the key word is protection.

Mind you, I think it should be imploded. It should have gone before The Stardust IMHO.
