Ive probably got some free time coming up soon and over 100,000 Flying Club miles stashed away.....Vegas UC is usually sold out so I started considering LAX.....now SFO also.
100K for UC seems such a bargain compared to the 50K needed for the awful economy to LAS..........do the UC cabins on the Vegas route have the suites as in the proper fleet? The old UC seat I always used to slide downwards.
Would the only difference therefore be the rubbish entertainment system, that always seems to be broken?
I would never fly from Gatwick with VS in U, always go via LHR as the experience is so much better. You have the best clubhouse in the world at LHR, and the second best at SFO, bar on the plane, in-flight beauty therapist, and it is widely thought of by VS cabin staff that the SFO flight has the friendliest bunch of people. If you use your miles just go onto the VS site, go to spend miles, and put in your dates for using your miles to pay for upper, you will be presented with a screen that shows all available outbound and return dates, just match up which ever you choose, I have always found plenty of availability on the SFO route,(47? upper suites, compared to 14 on LGW) Do not ask for the onward travel to LAS, they use USair, and they charge you more than you would have to pay if you book yourself, but I use Virgin America and they are great, voted best domestic airline in the U.S.
One thing I did worry about was because we flew upper we had lots of luggage and VA have a pretty small allowance, we would be stuck paying extra, but when we explained the situation at check-in they waived the fee, which would have only been about $40 return.
PSS remember that that comp upgrage will still set you back about £300 in taxes and fees!!The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Froggit,
Yes, $87.00 each. Not a bad price I thought and saves the driving.

Heading to Las Vegas the last week in May this year. I have been told it gets a bit cool at nights. Can anyone tell me if this is correct ? Maybe its because of the Air conditioning inside ? Dont want to bring too many cardys and a jacket if i dont need them.0

November/DecemberNo, it has never got a bit cool at night in May. It is still very warm. I took one jacket last year, and didn't use it once. The average MINIMUM for May is 60F/16C. and it was definitely much warmer when I was there.0

I usually pop over at least once a month for a long weekend, although this month is very busy at work, so going twice in June to make up for it....:D
Got concert tickets for Cher, Elton John and George Michael...0 -

Thanks
Will try that tip myself when I get there.0 -
