Hmmmm - interesting. Is there a low cost airline that does LAX to LAS? Out of interest, is the Grand Canyon on the way?
If you use Virgin to San Fran then you can get a flight to Vegas for $98 return with Virgin America, great airline.
P.S. No the Grand Canyon is not on the way, it is to the north east of Vegas, you will be coming from the north west
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I certainly don't think the OP is "mad" (how rude !)

You're being a bit OTT love. Calm down, it wasn't meant offensively and I hope for the love of god that the OP knew that.

isn't that what Las Vegas Promotions sister site " Vegas hotel hunt " does  ??

    http://www.vegashotelhunt.com/
    No it doesnt.

What my idea would do is show hotels by date, rather than by hotel.

So it would show eg 13th May.....
    Venetian $179
    TI $89
    PH $68
    Luxor $87

So it would show eg 14th May.....
    Venetian $179
    TI $109
    PH $45
    Luxor $210
    Wynn $399

    etc.

Many people seem to "trade down at weekends due to the cost - this would enable them to do that and also to find the best deal for a great hotel during the week without having to visit every deal.

    Froggit,

We've got flights booked from Vegas to LA with US Airways. Two seats for $174.00.

    Stew
    $87 each return?

Hmmm - the number of options are increasing.

Ive probably got some free time coming up soon and over 100,000 Flying Club miles stashed away.....Vegas UC is usually sold out so I started considering LAX.....now SFO also.

100K for UC seems such a bargain compared to the 50K needed for the awful economy to LAS..........do the UC cabins on the Vegas route have the suites as in the proper fleet? The old UC seat I always used to slide downwards.

Would the only difference therefore be the rubbish entertainment system, that always seems to be broken?

Flying direct from Manchester is looking like its going to cost too much. So I'm going to have to make a stop on the way, I've never done this connecting flight thing and I'm quite nervous about it  .
Ive had a reasonable quote to stop in Philadelphia. Ive just got a few questions.....

The transfer times are quite short between flights (2 hours outbound and 1 hour inbound) is there a chance that a delay could mean we miss our connecting flight? and what happens if this occurs?
Whats the procedure for changing flights regarding luggage and immigration etc?

Is there anything else I should be aware of? Sorry for all the questions.

I'm suprised that they would sell you a combination with an hour between flights as that's quite tight. I think that if the airline sells you the ticket, and you miss your connection because of a delay with the airline, it's down to them to sort out a new flight for you...but how quickly they could do that would depend on a number of factors including how many later flights they or other airlines have flying from the airport.

Regarding luggage and immigration - you have to go through immigration on your first stop in the US...then you have to grab your bags from one carousel, go through customs and then drop them in the recheck area - usually quite nearby and takes only a few minutes at most once you are through customs. Then you have to get to your gate - not sure about Philly's airport and how many terminals, etc...On the way back, your bags are normally checked through to their final destination...you don't go through immigration on your way back until you get back to the UK.

Whenever we have a connection I usually make sure that there's 2-3 hours between flights...but I'm overly paranoid...I do think that an hour seems quite tight though...but in theory they've built some time into their schedule on the Vegas to Philly flight.

In 2006 we did MAN to LAS via Philadelphia with USAirways. The outbound gap was 2h 15m and the inbound was 1h 45m. We managed to have a snack and a drink in the airport after going through immigration. It was really plenty of time. Because you don't need to pick bags up on the way back, our time there was adequate too.

Last November we did MAN to LAS via Chicago with AA and the gap outbound was just 1h 35m. The schedule was changed after we booked, otherwise I wouldn't have done that short a gap. When I called to complain and try to get my flight changed, they said that the official transfer time on that flight was 1h 15m and would not change it. They did say they would put us on the next available flight if we did miss, but we didn't need to worry since we had enough time.

    I hope that helps.

I think it's a good idea, but not sure how easy it would be to create a site to do it as there are so many various offers around at any given time, with different black-out dates, some with limited availability, etc...but it's a good idea in theory if it's workable from the programming side...I'd probably use it if it existed.
