If the rate you are looking at is for one of the garden rooms (basically a motel out back, more or less), they are said to be pretty dire so you may want to take that into account. If you do a google search for Tropicana Vegas Garden Room you'll see some photos and even a video of one. The location is better than Sahara, certainly...it's still at one end of the action, but the nicer end at least! It's in desperate need of refurbishment and is regularly rumoured to be next up to be imploded (though those rumours have been going around long enough that I wouldn't be too worried).
What sort of rates are you seeing? Maybe someone here can point you to a similar deal somewhere else?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
January/FebruaryI used the Trop regularly up to 2 years ago when the hotel was getting a bit tired, and they seemed short of staff .Shame really as the location was ok and for hard core MSEs like me the rates were cheap and it was an easy walk(for me)from the Airport.
On my last couple of trips I have rediscovered the Excalibur and had good service, room and a great price.0 -
SeptemberMy fiance had a great time "shocking" me in Vegas, every time he touched me, sparks flew. And not in the good way! :rotfl: Yet, strangely, i couldn't return the favour, so to speak. :rotfl:Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

MayThanks for that...I always carry my husband's passport around with us (I have a photocard driving licence which has been accepted everywhere except Bally's players club - part of the Harrah's group, so they must be especially strict). I think going forward I will carry a copy of his passport instead as I panic at least once a day thinking I don't have it in my bag anymore.
Is it a colour copy or black and white that you carry?
I'm also enjoying your report and all the detail and look forward to reading new installments as they are added!
The copy I have now is a colour one although I did originally use a black and white one 3 years ago and that was OK too. Just used it at Bally's Steakhouse and it was accepted no problem.
I usually carry a couple of travellers cheques just in case it isn't accepted as some places will let you cash them without ID.0 -
well home again , had really good holiday and a excellent stay in Vegas .
however i will never fly on that heap of a 747, Virgin Atlantic have the nerve to call a " great start to your holiday". honestly i will go indirect or more likely tack a day onto a trip and fly into LAX , rather than subject myself to the most miserable flight i have ever taken again. it not just the seat configuration , the seat pitch is terrible , the seats are so uncomfortable and coming apart , they could not get the in seat entertainment working for half of economy , had a hours wait to check in at McCarren despite arriving in good time , and when i dared to go ask for a glass of water the staff acted like i should not be distrubing them.
yet the flight into LAX with Virgin was great . new plane , lovely seats , on demand entertainment ( which you can also pause , rewind ect) , everything your trans Atlantic flight should be , and everything the Las Vegas to Gatwick flight is not.  . the hours into LAX just melted away , the flight home was like 40 miles of rough road. it was like 2 different airlines .
can some airline please come and take Virgin on like for like on this route , because Virgin sure need a firework up the backside , in the mean time i am posting a warning on the guide about the poor quality of this flight. maybe i should e mail them that , along with the fact the this thread seems sure to have 100,000 hits before xmas . wake up beardy branson there are a long line of unhappy consumers just waiting for the chance to be wooed by a rival.
Caesars was tremendous though , and $20 trick worked wonders as we got upgraded to the Augustus tower :T, 3x size of the room we booked . without doubt now my favorite Vegas property.
went to see Defending the Caveman , Le Reve , Mysterie , and David Copperfield.
will post a bit more later ,as i want to watch 2nd half of Villa v Everton
This is what I did NOT want to hear! Ive paid extra to fly direct to vegas with Virgin and now im thinking maybe I shouldnt have! :rolleyes:0 -
Yeah! First trip of the year to Vegas now fully booked. Direct flight and a week at the Signature. Was tempted to try to Palazzo for a few nights but not tempted enough to miss out on the daily gym session. Had to laugh at the Trump Towers current offer. 2 nights for the price of 3 with their "One more night" offer. Only catch is it works out more expensive than just booking the same room for three nights (and thats after the 33.3% price reduction)!0

So, thats why he's so rich:DThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
November/December...its about 3.5 hours drive to the south rim so probably a bit much for one person to do on their own
Took us around 5 hours last year. You would definitely be speeding if you got there in 3.5 hours. I was the only driver there and back. We did stay overnight though.0
