As for mossies not enough fresh water for them, now scorpions, rattlers and horrid little spiders that's a different story.

Hi atro1 - have you seen any of those creatures that you listed above then? I havent made it out to Canyon etc yet so have a rather sheltered experience I suppose - but have you seen any in the hotels/on the strip etc?? can you imagine seeing a scorpion scuttling around at breakfast!

One thing I did hear though was that every morning the pool people have to clear dead birds bodies away before the pool opens as the build up of static electricity shocks them dead when they land .....

Hi Stef.. No I was just jesting although there are warnings out in the desert, like in Red Rock canyon.
As I need very little sleep I was around the Luxor pool this year early hours and though the cleaners were there never saw any dead birds just a few dead black insects

We really enjoyed it as we accepted it was a bit over-the-top from the beginning. Fun show. Especially playing the 'Where is the Montecito this episode?' game in the early series where the building randomly moved around the strip. :)

    Hi, everyone,
I am interested in the Bus tours to the Grand Canyon, since they are cheaper and I am a bit afraid of low altitude planes :o. Sorry if this has been answered lots of times, but I only find recommendations concerning the helicopter and flight tours. Even trets77 really useful posts only address these more expensive trips.

I have found this tour including stops at Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and 3 hours in the Grand Canyon for $89: http://www.looktours.com/bus1.html

And this one for $110 grand-adventures.com/canyonwalkingtour.html
which includes a route66 stop, hoover dam and 3 hours walking in the CG.

Can you please recommend one of these companies or another one you may feel is good quality?
    Thanks in advance.

Another option rather than going by bus if there is more than one person that can drive its actually as cheap to rent a car

    $30-60 to rent car
    $80 in fuel (its ~$3.50 a gallon)
then plus breakfast + lunch and dinner

its about 3.5 hours drive to the south rim so probably a bit much for one person to do on their own

is it really? I've seen reports ranging from 4-6 hours to the South Rim...so I have no idea anymore what to expect and am assuming 6 to be safe. :)
