I can point you to the open vegas thread where this is discussed:

    http://www.openvegas.com/vegas/forums/showthread.php?t=50848&page=2

Hopefully a fellow MSEr will be able to corroborate this.

PS: I hope this is not altered before july!! I would love to grab one of those almost free buffets. ;)

this is the first thread that this was discussed on so this is where I got the $3/per point:

    http://www.openvegas.com/vegas/forums/showthread.php?t=48319

But if photome wasn't earning at that rate either the original info was wrong or they changed it.

If it is full pay Jacks or Better video poker then the payout is 99.54% with perfect strategy so a house edge of 0.46%. That means that on $450 of playthrough you get two buffets for an average cost of $2.07. Depending upon the paytable, it would be better therefore to play video poker than roulette. It's not hard to learn video poker and it's fun too.
... in theory - however this is much more like 'gambling' (if you know what i mean) as the risks are that you could also lose a lot more (the upside is you could snag a RF and laff to the bank too)

i think the 'minimal loss' roulette is always the safer bet for the novice gambler (no offence) :)

I know you know this entertainer as you are clearly clued up... was just incase anyone doesn't realise there's a bigger risk with this :)

That's wrong I'm afraid. Video poker is not fixed odds (like slots) they are totally random like playing a shoe of blackjack, it mimics a real pack of cards. If it has just paid out a royal flush it is just as likely to pay one the next hand or the hand after that.

That offer at the Wynn is good. In reality the payout is nothing like that percentage. The only thing that gets that up to that is when you include the Royal, and then you would have to be playing max. credits
Ask anyone here, if you play through $450 you sure as hell are going to lose more than $2, dang things swallow up my twenties like nothing on this earth, but hey, my free drinks only cost me roughly $15 each:o BTW I play double bonus poker 9/6
OMG look at the time, jetlag or what!!
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I have a pair of old Net 10 phones i used last year in Florida. I am going to vegas in two weeks time. Is the coverage in Vegas any good? If so i think i will get call time so we can speak to each other if we get lost and call home.
What is the mosquitoe situation like this time of year? Do we need to worry about it.

    Many thanks
    Andrew
I have a pair of Net10 tracfones and they worked very well for us in Las Vegas and Florida, this year. Although We never registered to ring home [UK]
As for mossies not enough fresh water for them, now scorpions, rattlers and horrid little spiders that's a different story.

Before anyone posts more anecdotal evidence about no mossies in Vegas you might want to look up the official Nevada situation. There ARE mossies and there HAVE been cases of West Nile Fever (over one hundred cases in 2006). When you mention fresh water I assume you mean "not salt water" ..the problem is stagnat water, especially poorly maintained swimming pools and auotomatic sprinklers with leaks.

Personally, I've never seen a mossie there either but I know that when I venture not too far from LV I've got to think about gettingo out the Deet.

'with perfect strategy' would be the other thing I would note there. Perfect strategy takes time to learn and the strategy differs for each type of VP game. For committed VP players it would be an option, sure...but for those who aren't inclined to learn the strategy it wouldn't be nearly so good a bet I don't think.

Plus there are stupid people like who no matter how much we practice on the free version WinPoker in training mode, still can't get it. :)

I have updated my trip report HERE

Luci, thanks for including the prices whenener possible!! Us, newbies appreciate it!!

Hope you don't mind my asking more details on the following:

«Went up to Harrah’s to see if they were handing out coupons for Harrah’s buffet, but the coupons were for the Flamingo buffet which we’re not that keen on.»
Is this common? Where/ when are these coupons being offered?

«My ankles are really swollen and I don’t usually suffer with that so don’t have any water tablets with me»

You seemed to have trouble with the jetlag and swollen feet. Any tips for someone who has never taken such a long flight? What are water tablets?

«The dual voltage travel kettle is one of the best things we ever bought.» Any tips on where to get one of these? Should I bring my own tea and coffee?

The MGM tower rooms: I was told in tripadvisor these rooms had gone through minor refurbishements such as the bed tops, etc. Is/ was that a nice room?

Only now realised you're still there?! Uau!! So when you get back, perhaps?

Hope you keep enjoying yourself!!!! And that you come back relaxed!

I do look forward to the next installment of your trip report!!
