MarchUnfortunalty we signed up a few years ago before this little trick was available, and keep racking my brains as to a way we can sign up again as we used driving licence and passports for i.d.
Have you played on your cards since you signed up? We signed up a few years ago - the year Wynn opened...played a little, then never went back. We joined as 'new' members last November and were able to take advantage of the buffet offer and got $10 freeplay each for signing up and giving our email addresses.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MarchI have been reading here and there some references to the casino's cards and how you can get vouchers and coupons upon simple sign-up and after some expenses or play.
For example, I read here lasvegasvegas.com/2008/04/free_wynn_buffet_f…
that «Every $3 in playthrough on slots is equivalent to 1 point ($9 playthrough for video poker). At 25 points, you get a free buffet. At 50 points, you get two free buffets. (After that, it jumps to 500 points for the next free buffet.) That's just $75 in playthrough, and assuming 90 percent payback on slots, you're looking at an expected loss of $7.50 for the best buffet in Las Vegas.»
Given that we will want to play a bit (I am not a gambler, but when in Vegas...), that does not sound like a bad deal: $75 in play + free buffet.
We won't be playing a lot, but I am interested in knowing if there are worthwhile cards to take, especially if they give VOUCHERS/ OFFERS upon sign-up.
I also read here, but am not sure, that the MGM card takes into account all expenses(?) for comps and freebies??
I am mainly interested in offers I can use while in LV, not in the future, since I may not be going back any time soon.
Thanks in advance for the help.
That Wynn buffet offer is one of the best deals for new sign-ups though it does seem to change quite frequently. When we signed up, I got the $10 freeplay for giving my address. with what I won on the freeplay and played back through the machine, I earned enough points for 1 free buffet...I put in a bit of my own cash as I was enjoying the machine and in what seemed like no time I had enough for 2 and didn't lose much at all.
in many cases you will get a free coupon book when you sign up (Bill's has a good one with all kinds of food and drink deals). You may not use many of the coupons, but you may find some useful.
If you go here:
www.advantageplayer.com - click on Viva Las Vegas...then on the left there is a link for slot club new sign up bonuses. That will give some info on what each is offering for signing up. But in a lot of cases, things will not be listed there.
In general, the Harrah's Total Rewards card is more kind to slot players than the MGM card...so play at Harrah's, Imperial Palace, Bally's, Flamingo, Rio, Ceasars and Paris counts. I'm not sure what your question about the MGM card means?
I totally agree that playing for comps is a dangerous road...but I wish we had learned about the players clubs sooner as our first few trips we assumed it wouldn't be worth us joining...we still play the same way we did before, but we get a lot more back for our play now.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
MarchHi - can anyone give me their experience with a taxi from Terminal 2 at LAS?
We are considering not picking up the car until the day after our flight in October...but will have 4 adults and 4 adults' luggage with us. We have never taken a taxi from T2 and I really don't know what to expect. Slightly worried that if we go this route we'll either have a long wait or end up in 2 taxis if there are no mini-vans on the stand.
We are toying with the idea of a limo as a surprise, but to be honest, after that flight all I want to do is get to the hotel, check-in and take a shower...a bit concerned that a limo ride at that point might be rather lost on all of us. I also get the impression that limos from T2 won't necessarily be waiting when you arrive - I'm sure I've read that you call to confirm you've arrived after you get your bags - but on an international flight by the time you can use a mobile phone you're pretty much at the door.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Just a point about the Wynn requirement for free buffets. This has been mentioned on Open Vegas but it was hushed up in case anyone at Wynn got wind, but I will mention it here as not alot of chance of that. When you sign up for your red card, make your way over to the rapid roulette, place $37.50 on red, and the same on black, and $1 each on zero and double zero, there you go, 2 buffets for $2. Don't know what the requirement is for 4 buffets but what ever that is use that instead of the $75.

Ditto poker and blackjack, and how do they accrue against comp buffets?illegitimi non carborundum0 -
MarchHow do they track your roulette play?
Ditto poker and blackjack, and how do they accrue against comp buffets?
In the case of the example for the quick way to get the buffet on roulette - it's actually the video roulette machines - not the tables and not Rapid Roulette. They look sort of like slot machines but with a high display which shows the roulette table layout, you put your card in the machine like any other slot machine.
For tables you give your card to the dealer when you sit down and they keep an eye on you and determine your average bet and how long you bet - then that's applied to their formula to determine how much you are entitled to for comps. I'm not sure if the formula is publically available. Most casinos won't rate table play for less than $25/hand though that varies a bit.
Edited to add that poker is different from other table games as you don't play against the house.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Just a point about video roullette and the wynn buffet. there is only a single zero and it is $9 in per point.
I played a dollar on red and black and nothing on the zero, it took me about 40 minutes and $18 lost to get the first two buffets and about the same time but only $4 lost to get the second two on my wifes card.
So 4 buffets for $22 instead of about $160..we had them on a weekend.
There are other methods as stoneman pointed out although the amount on each wasnt enough to get the 2 buffets, but the method above worked for me.0 -

Interesting - the reports I'd read indicated that the video roulette earned points at the slot machine rate $3/per point and not the video poker rate of $9/per point.
I wonder if they have changed this recently?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Wow, you're my type of gambler!! $1 each bet!! That's exactly what I was thinking of trying out. This is how high roll I am.
But now comes a total newbie question: how come you lost $18 using that strategy?
Also, newbie question again: 1- is it possible to track how many points you have accrued? Is there a machine to check this?
2- Is the player's card linked to your credit card? How do you pay?0 -

I can point you to the open vegas thread where this is discussed:

Hopefully a fellow MSEr will be able to corroborate this.
PS: I hope this is not altered before july!! I would love to grab one of those almost free buffets.0 -
Hi,
This is my first post, really useful thread by the way! Myself and 2 mates are looking to go to Vegas in June, but to keep costs down we thought we're better off getting 1 room for all 3 of us (MGM hopefully). But when looking at room booking, it only has 2 queen beds, is it possible to get a roll out or sofa bed as well? I'm told it is but not guaranteed, what are the odds do you think? And does the hotel charge?
Thanks0
