Yorkshire BS has reopened its Online Rainy Day Saver account (4.80%) to online applications, following a recent interest rate decrease.

For the past few weeks the above account was available only in its non-online version, i.e. for branch/postal applications (posted by me here on 17 August).

EDIT:  (Sat 7 Sep 2024) - the online application process for this product now appears to be functional, after some glitches yesterday.

just opened a cahoot savings account.
i seem to remember a bit of chat about existing login/issues regarding getting online

iv'e never had an account with them but wondered what issue i may run in to? could i have had a product with another company that may now be cahoot?  would my Santander login in some way be a problem/usable?

just want to be on the ball and not wait a week to then find something could have been done now.
    thank you.
all gone smoothly opening the Sunny Day Saver.
thought i may as well open the Simple Saver. can't be opened directly through account while logged in?

it also states they can't match all my details so i need to print off and fill in a form and photocopy ID and POST it to them. how can the details not match?
i can't be bothered with all that, anyone else get this? is there any chance they may just put the new account with my existing login without all the faff?
so....yesterday i received 2 letters with login details, bare in mind i did NOT send the ID they requested. just used them to login and my new Simple Saver is there.

will they merge the 2 accounts in to one login?

Yes, one login for all your Cahoot accounts.

My new Chip easy access account now says 4.84% AER. This includes a 0.77% boost which starts today and lasts for a year. A triple access account which tracks the BoE base rate.

Apologies if anyone beat me to it.

EDIT:  While the product is listed on YBS website as available, the application links don't appear to work!
Yep. You follow the links only to finally be told that the account they're advertising is not available. Grrrr.

I may add this to an addendum to ToTP, as it's quite useful for best rate chasers...

What's the best rate EA(ish) account that you can still pay in to, even if it's NLA?
for me, Ulster Bank will still be at 5.2% for another month (when it drops to 4.75%); DF Capital is 5.1% (NLA) until the start of October (dropping to 4.85%).

Can you just open it without funding it?

Thinking of sticking with Chase til their current bonus expires in January 25 then just deposit the money from their into this Chip one.

I would read it but a few thoughts
    1. Most people with the accounts already know about them, I'm not sure how much use it would be
    2. It could end up with a few dinosauric legacy account that just go on and on and on
    3. Most importantly it would be extra work for you. If you're up for it, go for it

Useful to me. I'd forgotten about the Coventry account 👍
