Unfortunately, having an account with Ulster wasn't enough to make me immune from Saga's online ID checks. It's rare for me to fail online ID checks with savings providers, so presumably Saga are stricter than some. The 72 hour wait presumably means they need to check the video manually.

A possible pointer for the Saga application.
My partner passed straight through, mine went into pending approval.
My partner took their glasses off for the selfie so it matched the passport pic. I didn't.

Doh ! I think you might have identified the reason why mine also wasn't automatically approved. Must remember to take mine off next time.

That does assume that when you take your glasses off you can still read the instructions on the screen!

Opened 5 mins. No photo/ID

Can be annoying when you run up against something "taking a photo" as opposed to using devices with all the latest 3D imaging smarts and IR sensors that don't care if you wear specs, put on a hat or grow a beard - still knows it's you.

Same here, had the old Saga account with a few pounds in not closed yet. No Natwest or other related account. Taken a note of my account details for when I fund.

Saga
Has anyone found where Saga hide your account number on their online platform? I know mine, but only because I took a screenshot and can check the details on my nominated current account.
I could be really thick here, but I can't see the account number shown anywhere on Saga's online platform - it is a novel experience for me using online banking where you can see the account description, but not the account number.
If this is how it is meant to be, then something to be aware of if you don't have a separate record and your nominated bank has the habit of deleting saved payees it doesn't think you need.

Go to "Add money", you can see it there under Step 2.
