It's only confusing if you don't understand what AER is actually describing. It's not a definition of the rate applying to a particular product, it's a way of comparing disparate products by way of equivalence.

I absolutely understand what aer is.
Tell me, if you compare this account with another account with no deposit limits which is still 6% aer. Would you say they are equal? remember you're comparing them off some list.

Considering you only need multiples for EAs with a limited allowance, I think Santander Edge is the only one allowing this option atm. I might be wrong.
I remember Lloyds 4% on £4k and similar products from BoS and Halifax, that was great whilst lasted. Today 4% is way too low even for ISA😀

Santander Edge Saver
I'm quite happy taking out the interest every month, into easy access account, which goes on to help fund reg savers. What's not to like? Can't have two, but not willing to get married again/cohabit for £4000 + interest per year. 😂0 -
You can have 2 sole Edge Savers, just open 2 Edge Current Accounts!
A few of us have 2.

ii customers were able to take part in the auction of the new gilt (T36N), and since AJ Bell put up an explanatory page (which isn't there any more), I guess their cutstomers could too. It wouldn't surprise me if Hargreaves Lansdown also offered it, since I think they do some new gilt issues too - large platforms do this now.
IPO 4.875% Treasury Gilt 2036 - The Lemon Fool
Note that you don't get the yield guaranteed - it could have been below 4.875%, as well as above. It would have depended on demand.

I'll risk bigamy and marry you for 8k.

That never dawned on me. Thank you so much. Way easier than what was never going to happen. 😂 Glad that I mentioned that, or would have been none the wiser.

Thank you so much for making me really laugh, what a tonic you are.0 -
Of course they are not equal, what they do have is the same AER.
