I've started closing down a lot of accounts elsewhere like Chip etc as they only offer better rates for new customers and don't see many competing for top spot anymore and rates sideways or down from here.
Comments elsewhere on the site are mentioning that rates are (sporadically) starting to edge higher, might just be a few outliers jostling for market share.

Tried opening an Ulster Bank account again this morning. Same problem as yesterday.
Allowing tracking cookies and disabling Ublock Origin in Firefox made no difference.
    Tried MS Edge. Same problem.

    Trustpilot review:-

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers express significant dissatisfaction with various aspects of the company. Many consumers report issues with customer service, describing it as unhelpful and difficult to navigate. People also highlight problems related to the location, particularly the limited availability of branches. Reviewers frequently mention negative experiences with payments, indicating potential issues with transactions and account management. The contact methods, including phone and online support, are also a source of frustration for many. Furthermore, several consumers have expressed concerns about the functionality and user-friendliness of the app.

I don't think I will bother with any further attempts.
    Have you tried chrome browser.

Santander's Edge Saver, paying 6% on up to £4,000, is facing changes as they encourage people to sign up to a current account with a monthly £17 fee:

With the launch of our new Santander Edge Explorer current account, we’ve changed the eligibility criteria of our Santander Edge saver. This means that Santander Edge Explorer current account holders can open a Santander Edge saver.

This also means that if you choose to upgrade to a Santander Edge Explorer current account, you can keep your Santander Edge saver.

We need to tell you about the changes to eligibility for the Santander Edge saver, because if you don’t meet them we might switch your Santander Edge saver to an Everyday Saver.

Saw this mentioned on another thread, and have now received an email confirming the changes.

    SANTANDER EDGE SAVER ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

We’ve made changes to the eligibility of your Santander Edge saver

With the launch of our new Santander Edge Explorer current account, we’ve changed the eligibility criteria of our Santander Edge saver. This means that Santander Edge Explorer current account holders can open a Santander Edge saver.

We need to tell you about the changes to eligibility for the Santander Edge saver, because if you don’t meet them we might switch your Santander Edge saver to an Everyday Saver.

Now, to have a Santander Edge saver you must:

    • have a Santander Edge® or a Santander Edge® Explorer current account.

    • be 18 or over and live in the UK.

    • have a maximum of 3 Santander Edge saver accounts – one for each Santander Edge current account or Edge Explorer current account you have.

    • As this is an online account, you’ll need to have Online and Mobile Banking. So, we recommend signing up, if you haven’t already.

The Santander Edge saver includes monthly interest paid on balance up to £4,000.

    What happens next?

You don’t need to do anything if you want to carry on using your account. This change will happen in the background. It won’t affect how you use your account.

If you’re not happy with this change, you can close your account with no charge.

Doesn't all that mean "no change" for anyone with Edge Current Account(s) and associated Edge Savers?

So, no real change as it says:

    "* have a Santander Edge® or a Santander Edge® Explorer current account."

So nothing has changed? - You can still have the Edge Saver with the Edge current account.

    Santander:
You can only hold one Edge Explorer in sole OR joint names (unlike the Edge a/c). Hence why opening this would allow a maximum of 3 x Edge Savers.
