With Cahoot having the best rates at 4.4% im considering moving £80k from a personal injury claim to them. But i am very worried as i have had big problems with Santander before blocking large withdrawals when i needed them.
I have also looked at the reviews on TrustPilot and there mostly one star reviews with accounts being blocked and poor systems. Many People regretting opening accounts.
I think TrustPilot may be a bit unfair as people only place a review there when there is a problem.
So i just wondered what peoples experiences were on here. Im mostly concerned with accounts being blocked on large deposits or withdrawals?
I'd be perfectly comfortable holding 85k with both Cahoot and Santander, and have, but I've wasted many hours on the phone with Santander security after being blocked several times in a row, so I would never keep my emergency funds with them in case I was blocked again when I really needed them.

Even if one does get blocked, it's not the end of the world but it does defeat the instant access nature of the accounts if/when it happens.

I have been a Santander / Cahoot account holder for eons and have been making dozens of payments each month. Some of these resulted in my Santander account access getting blocked - usually £5k+ payments to new payees, even if there’s a COP match and after I have confirmed I read all their warning messages. It happens rarely but last time it did was only last week when I was trying to move money to one of my own current accounts, which was a new payee. I was abroad at the time, so it was probably my non-UK IP address which raised the alarm. Santander Fraud department answered the phone after a couple of rings, at 11pm UK time. I confirmed it was me who had requested the payment, that no 3rd party had coerced me, and that the money was just going to a bog standard UK current account. My access got reinstated immediately, and I was then able to send the money without further problems. The whole process took less than 8 minutes, and I am reassured that Santander verified that it wasn’t some fraudster who was about to steal my money.

NB. I have my voice registered with Santander and used the phone number they have on my profile, so I sailed through ID verification.

    Cahoot Simple Saver
I opened a joint simple saver this morning and have been able to transfer a couple of pound in. When I went to try to transfer out it won’t allow me too, either on the Santander app or online. Have tried on both mine and hubby’s account. It gives me a message to say something’s gone wrong and to call them. The thing is I don’t want to call them as they’ll then see that myself and hubby have 12 Sunny Day Savers between us 😂 and they might want to close some down. Has anyone else had this problem? Our other joint accounts are working as they should.

I've never tried to make a withdrawal on the days of opening Simple Savers, but I recall making internal transfers which worked.

Something slightly different.  I have issues 10, 11 and 13.  I wanted to upgrade 11 to Sunny Day, but the system wouldn't let me.  I can upgrade 10, but 11 and 13 are not on the list.  Previously I could upgrade all SSs and SDs of previous issues, I wonder if it is a glitch or I'm missing something.  I don't want to call Cahoot for the same reason, don't want to jeopardise my arsenal :)

i've moved large sums in and out of Cahoot regularly with hardly any blockage interaction - I think it's been a year or two... in fairness, I should probably add that i'm never transferring to/from the savings account directly, all external transfers goes through my Cahoot current account (which might be a little more relaxed with regards to larger transfers).

this may or may not help, but I had a fixed-term bond with them mature last month and initially when I tried to upgrade it to a SDS (on a Friday I think), it wasn't an option... I did send them a message about it, but when I tried it again on the Monday, I was able to upgrade it without any issue... a few days afterwards, I just got a generic "we're receiving a lot of messages at the moment etc" with just general advice about upgrading.

as a test, I just went through the first stage of the upgrade process on my simple savers and all were available to upgrade to SDS (1x10, 2x11,1x12,1x13) - so I don't think there is an issue specifically with Issue 11 upgrades - perhaps try it again next week and see if it works then.

I don't know if they have a limit on the maximum number of accounts you hold with them, but could it be that that's been exceeded if they do?

I think there is a limit (no idea of the number though), but I assume if @allegro120 was hitting that limit, they wouldn't be able to upgrade any of their simple savers and not just issue 11.

It was an internal transfer I tried but it won’t let me do that, can pay in just not transfer out to another Cahoot account 🤷🏼‍♀️. Might just have to leave it alone, it’s only got £2 in anyway.

I haven’t tried to do the same, but I’d probably try again tomorrow incase something needs to happen overnight.
