f0xh0les said:It was meant as more of a threat to be honest! Grandmanerd wants to move in there, it would solve a lot of her short term problems. Mind you, sentimentality has no place when selling houses. Yes, it might make more money done up, but it does him no good if it takes 18 months to do up and sell, if he doesn't last 18 months, plus his daughter might get hit with inheritance tax on top, if she inherits both houses......If they don't agree to sell it to you grandmanerd, then pass on the selling side of it to him and his daughter, and mither them about 'your share' on a weekly basis, or ask THEM to buy YOU out at the price they expect to achieve for it. Lay it on thick. You did enough work with your mum's house. This should not all fall on you. It simply is not fair. You need liquid assets so you can go on holiday and enjoy yourself this Summer. Financial Freedom and Independence will be yours.
My knees are hurting the most so I put ibuprofen gel on them and the area on my side and back which will bruise. I've not put my shoes on and stayed mainly on the bed but am continuing to clear the floor and fill boxes (the empty boxes were taking up space in my room anyway so it makes sense to fill them. I had nearly cleared the floor but then did a sweep under the bed getting out as much as possible (using ex takeaway bags and throwing them downstairs as I fill them. I'm on my second paper bag and a carrier bag of cans went downstairs (the two sackfuls I put in the outside bin yesterday filled it to the brim but that's going out for collection tonight.
Grateful for resting and being careful (very careful with my sleeping position last night), some awkward injuries easing off (one shoulder blade which must have hit the door and then the table top, little finger which was probably dragged off the handrail with the momentum of the fall), good books and series to relax with and the laptop limping along (it wouldn't connect this morning). deleting lots of e-mails and unsubscribing to some.10 -
Take care @grandmanerd xxSpend day today, but I have lost track already. Did the shopping, bought some tomato plants as mine seem to have failed for the first time in years. Don't know if it was the compost or the rotten weather (though they were indoors). A few might survive, but they will be very late, so I bought 6 at the garden centre near my brother's flat. They are outside at the moment, but I will bring them in overnight.OH took apart the woodstove to clean it, and it needs some new parts, so I ordered those, which was simpler than I thought it would be, though not cheap!Went to see my brother, took him the few things he had asked for, and sat and had a cup of coffee with him. He isn't great, just seems to lie in bed most of the time. But he had done his washing up and tidied the kitchen a bit, and said he intends to make a shepherds pie for dinner. I do take him things, but he prides himself on making what he wants to eat, and at least he is doing something to occupy him apart from watching TV. Brought his washing back with me and put it in the machine. Hopefully it can go out on the line tomorrow, a bit late for today. I will take it back at the weekend.Grateful today for seeing that a frog has made his / her home in the little pond we made under the quince tree. It is just a 1 foot square old mini belfast sink, which I planted up with pond plants last year. Just goes to show, you don't need a lot of space to attract wildlife
My other pond, which is basically a large bucket, just has lots of water snails so far. Hopefully they won't eat all the plants in there!

Today I am grateful for Pip having a good day at school, for sunshine drying 2 loads of laundry, for my liddle f+v box, for a day mostly to myself.

NSD#5
Up early, woke 2 DS's ready for work & exam. Yoga & Norwegian done.
A tricky day at work, so pleased when it was hometime! Figured out how to cast things in my phone to the TV, so it will be a better sized screen to virtually attend my auntie's funeral on Monday.
Hemmed the 7 pairs of jeans I prepped last night. Fetched the washing in & relaxed in the bath
Grateful for the bell at 3.30, figuring out Chromecast, chats with friends, that the Dr is sending DS1 for a scan of his legUse it up, wear it out

Gosh, one week into May and I think this might be my first posting! It has been an eventful first week.
NSDs on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th so not doing too badly. I think there may be a few more this coming week as I am feeling under the weather, hayfever + long COVID + side effects of medicine switch just generally leaving me feeling a tad wiped out.
In terms of the challenge...
Taking Stock.
I am working my way through food stores in two of the homes I spend time in, and trying to run these down whilst also eating mindfully and increasing the amount of veg in my life.
On health matters, I'm feeling uncomfortable about some weight gain over the past 8 months, so am making a conscious effort to do the basics - reduce snacking, make healthier choices and move more. I think this will help with my other niggles of aches and things too. There's a couple of appts I have / realise I need to book in.
On time commitments, well yes, this exactly. I have some nice commitments this month and a result of my birthday, DD coming back to the UK for a month, and some vouchers from last year's birthday that need using pre expiry. These are proving the 'bigger yes' and causing me to step away from excess work hours etc. Fingers crossed some good habits to make!
Finances - no, I don't know my DFD. Would I like to? Yes, I can see that would be motivating. I have made a couple of short forays into sorting out financial stuff this week, and aim to grip this month the financial life admin tasks that are hanging over me, linked to my budget and to mums estate. My emergency fund is nearly at £500 now, the first time I have had any funds sry aside since saving for the deposit for the flat.

Morning turtles! I need to catch up on your posts. Yesterday was NSD 2 for me. After a spenny bank hol I am reining it in and doing a super frugal week (aim to spend less than ~EUR 10). Eeeeeek. I have enough food in so it should be doable (housemates also cook for me sometimes, which is included in the "rent" I pay), i may just need some f & v.
Grateful for a couple of productive days at work and for being in a better mood than I was on Sunday, for housemates making me crepes (Hungarian palacsinta :-)) and for the dog letting me rub her belly - only took her two months! have a wonderful Wednesday turtles.

Be the Person You Want to Become
What does she eat?
What habits does she have?
Who surrounds her?
What is her physique?
How does she feel when she looks in the mirror?
What is she doing?
What is her work ethic?
How does she respond to those around her?
What is her fashion style?
What is her look on life?
Be the love you never received
Be the acknowledgement you never got
Be the listener you always needed
Look at the younger versions of yourself within you and give yourself what it is that you always needed. That is the first step of healing
If you want others to see you, you must see yourself

@ditty1234 your earlier post about work and mental health resonated with me, I'm in a very similar position. Good luck with your jobhunting! I'm waiting to hear about one application but every time I check it just says "to be reviewed". I'm becoming a tad obsessive with checking it, it's not healthy!
I didn't post yesterday as I felt quite unwell after finishing work, so I had dinner and then went straight to bed. I did spend yesterday as forgot my milk for my cereal at work and also needed some apples.
Today I've made a small charity donation and also sent a £10 payment to savings and £10 to my Very account for my laptop. Checked finances and everything is looking okay for the month thus far, no nasty surprises. I also got an expenses payment through so sent that straight to my credit card to pay off some of my retainer costs.
Today was also the first time this year I've managed to get an entire load of washing fully dried outside in one day, not still damp, which is worth celebrating if you ask me!11 -
Another nice sunny day, and I got two loads of washing dry outsideWalked the dog first thing, stripped off the bed and changed the winter to the summer duvet. I can always pop a blanket over it if it feels chilly.Moved some seedlings out to the little lean to greenhouse, and planted some marigolds that a neighbour gave me in bare spaces in the pots.Hoovered the first floor, and made a big chilli. I will freeze half of it, as there is loads. I used up lots of veg from the fridge.Tired now, as I was up just after 5. I just can't stay in bed once I am awake8
