Habits That Pay Off Forever
Fixing your sleep schedule - cold bedroom, no phone in bed, no caffeine (at least one hour before bedtime)
Delaying gratification - it will determine where you end up in life
Shorten the distance between idea and action to get out of the procrastination jail
Saying 'NO'
Being afraid of something and doing it anyway
Don't care about how people view you
Do boring sh*t even when you don't feel like it
Learn to not form opinions about things that are beyond your control
Study philosophy to help become a 'better' you
Seek feedback and use it to improve
Never be the best - seek someone better than you and limit time spent with those 'under' you
Exercise and eat healthily from a young age and eventually an old age too
(@savingwith ben) I have reservations with some of these (grandmanerd)6 -

How To FINISH What You START
1) Be selective in what you embark on
Don't just start on anything, do only the things you are passionate about
2) Estimate the resources you need (so you know what to expect)
3) Budget your Time and Energy accordingly (so you can finish the project in a timely manner)
4) Quit being a Perfectionist (Whatever you're obsessing about doesn't make much difference in the long run)
5) Commit to it (hold yourself to your word)
6) Connect to your end vision (especially in times when you feel uninspired)
7) Follow the path of highest Enjoyment
8) Track your progress (whatever gets measured gets improved)
9) Celebrate what you've done so far
10) Don't force it if it's not really working out (Quit the project if it's not what you want)

Yesterday was fairly productive. I contacted Mr and Mrs Builder and they will do the end of tenancy house clean and maybe some of the painting. This will be at the end of the month as they are away (in Greece) until then, but they will be cheaper than the other firms. The gardener hadn't contacted me so I messaged DS2 to ask for his phone number. Gardener was driving when I phoned him but will get back to me, but his wife phoned me back and took my details. They will visit to assess what needs doing and arrange maintenance sessions for both properties.
Little bits of cleaning and exercise were done and rubbish went out to the bins (also collected the second bin from the end of the backs). Food was easy options and use ups.
Grateful for progress, my state of mind (very calm and positive) and lots of good books and things to watch (just found a 3 part series from 2914 with Philip Glenister and Bernard Hill8 -
Afternoon turtles
Up early today as had to walk to the pain clinic at the local hospital. They have agreed to try something different (ironically something I first suggested 3 years ago!) so now it's just a matter of waiting.
Came home and got a load of washing done, cleaned my aquarium, then drove to a riding lesson (prepaid). By the time I got home it was pretty much lunchtime, I sat with my book for a bit, then did another load of washing and hoovered. Fell asleep on the sofa for about 30 minutes, once I woke up I prepped a veggie lentil soup which is currently bubbling away.
I nearly stopped off at the farm shop on my way home to grab something nice for lunch but stopped myself so money saved there. I have money in my weekly budget but OH is home tomorrow and more likely to want to buy lunch so saved any potential spending for tomorrow!Save £2,400 tuition fees - £2,321.04 as of 08/24
Pay off credit card by December 2024 - £1,450/£2,0005 -
I'm late to the party again, but can you also put me on the list as well @grandmanerd x
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy5 -
Today I am grateful for my family, for my current audiobook, for the neighborhood kids playing out, for Pip having a steady day after another rough night, for cutting out some penguins to sew.

If I disappear for a day or two, it's because my laptop has broken. Started with a small crack in the casing mid-week and yesterday started to split open. Couldn't connect to the internet earlier.7
