A bungalow or ground floor garden flat sound ideal for you @grandmanerd if you could manage it. Falling downstairs is no fun. Our house is on 3 floors, and one of the sets of stairs is of the steep, narrow original Edwardian kind. We are both over 70 now, though reasonably able bodied, and try to be super careful. I don't think we could ever afford a bungalow in this area though. My brother is now in hospital with a suspected secondary tumour in his brain. I will be going to clean his flat (impossible with him in it) this morning, and going to see him this afternoon.8

@grandmanerd. I 100% agree a bungalow is the best way forward for you. I am blessed enough to live in one & have a wet floor bathroom. @grandmanerd, is it a viable option to convert the ground floor of grandma's house into a flat for you and then let the upper floor?6

@DawnW - So sorry to hear about your brother. x5

@DawnW sorry to hear about your brother, sending hugs to you both.
Today was the first day of my week off work. Started off by walking to the gym and back, then did a couple of small jobs in the house and then went to a job interview. Not sure how it went, I think some of it was okay but other parts could've been better. We shall see. I deliberately bought lunch beforehand as it was slap bang in the middle of the day plus I used it as a chance to relax and do some last minute prep before I went in.
Trains were chaotic on the way home and ended up having to walk the last bit but at least that happened on the way back not on the way there!
Have written and printed evidence for a s75 chargeback for some car parts I ordered in March which haven't turned up and where the seller is ignoring me. Need to get an envelope and a stamp so will sort that in the morning.6 -
Today I am grateful for Pip feeling okay about today's two exams, for enjoying my work, for doing more steps than expected, for finishing my book, for fresh bed linen.Grandmanerd, I wouldn't worry about changing direction every month- you're working out what you need.Hugs DawnWxNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

I think you already know in your mind, @grandmanerd, that a bungalow is the way to go. This one sounds ideal for you, if it's already got a wet room & the fixtures & fittings are to your taste, less for you to do once you move in!
Sorry to hear about your brother @DawnW. Sending hugs to you both.
Took DH to get his bloods done at the hospital, then went to speak to a planning officer. She couldn't say if what we're doing so far is on the right track, but we should hear in 4-6 weeks.
Picked mum up & drove back to our house. DS3 weeded a couple of raised beds (finally!). I managed to set up the chromecast to the TV & we attended my auntie's funeral virtually.
Took mum home later in the afternoon, dropping DS3 off en route & buying mum some flowers which were similar colours to the ones at the hearse.
Exhausted when I got home. Watched a bit of TV with DH, then unpacked the box with my summer clothes in, put them away & packed the winter ones away.
Off to bed in a minute, ready for work again tomorrow.
Grateful for technology, being able to support mum, my familyUse it up, wear it out

Really hope you can get the finances for the bungalow sorted @grandmanerd It sounds ideal, and would be a safe and comfortable home for life, where you could finally relax and just enjoy life. XXXThinking of you @DawnW and sending gentle (((hugs))) to you, and all who need them. XGrateful that DS2 has made a good start on the garden borders, after the bombsite that was left from getting new fences and shed! Also grateful that I've finally managed to make a start on clearing the main upstairs bedroom. I've bagged up load of shoes and boots, some never worn, along with a 2 large bags of clothes. They're in the van ready to go to the CS. Feels as though a weights been lifted off my shoulders, although there's still a lot more to do, and that's without even looking in the Craft Room of Doom!

Today I am grateful for not getting wet this morning, for Pip and dh enjoying a day at home, for a visiting cat liking affection from pip, for coffee cake, for library books.
