I think that sounds like a good purchase then @Starlight_at_Sea, it's difficult to break the frugal mindset sometimes and realise when something will add to our quality of life. Enjoy it!!
I got stung for much less than I was expecting at the dentist yesterday so I am grateful for that. I am also so happy I get to finish work at 3pm, although I have a load of work to get finished. Happy Friday turtles xxStudent loan £5655

Still here but only just. Yesterday I limped through with 1 - 3 minutes internet at a time and today mostly nothing until just now. Not sure how long it will last.
Grateful for books, intermittent internet and my bed.9 -
Yesterday I had another nice day off in the rain, I went to pilates first thing and then to brunch with my sister. OH bought pizza and I got a couple of beers as it was my birthday.
Today I have had to have a stern talk to myself about using my credit card frivolously. At the start of the year I paid for some dental work on there (interest free) which I classed as a necessity. However I've been adding bits here and there and it now sits at £2,000. There's no reason for me to have debt given my salary if I just planned a bit better, I think I've just used it and told myself I'll get it paid off, but it's just creeping up.
I do have £2,000 in savings but that is locked away so can't use it to clear it, and I need that money towards tuition fees in September so I sat and rejigged my budget a bit today with more focus on clearing the debt ASAP. Hopefully my S75 claim will be successful as that'll take £700 off the total but need to wait and see (it should be, it's for a car part that I wasn't told was on back order and the retailer is ignoring me when I ask for a refund).
Anyway, aside from that, I've been to the gym this morning and to pilates again this evening, cleaned both aquariums, hoovered and did a few other jobs around the house. A nice spend free day.Save £3,000 emergency fund #79 - £2,073.28 as of 05/24

A few successes today - the ironing baskets are empty, finally! sadly tomorrow the beds are changed again and everything has to be ironed for fear of 'Schroedinger's pets'. A whole week without any sightings though.I put the (replacement) enormous mirror back on the wall - got DS2 to help getting the wire over the screws - the other 3 kids haven't even noticed it is there. It is enormous, shiny, and reflective, how they can miss it is beyond me.I found my packets of seeds that were missing. They all say to be planted in May! Serendipity abounds. I have planters ready outside for them.Filled a black sack with clothes for the charity shop/rags. It just needs to leave the house now. I am making another pile.No spends today, so that makes NSD 10, just as well as I am on a very tight rein this month. No more work booked in until June.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Today I am grateful for finishing 7 days of work, for Pip actually getting bored in his dreaded chemistry exam, for going to the gym, for no more exams until Tuesday afternoon, for plots and plans about the downstairs.

Hi All sorry for absence, but it has been a crazy week with exchange students staying, time in the studio, a productive couple of meetings, a job interview I have to make a new portfolio for and general good life stuff. The down side is that I have had very few NSD days, and will struggle to pay my water bill on Tuesday without hitting my savings.
But I am immensely happy that ds1 will start a professional masters and live away from home from September, Ds2 has completed his BA work, and I have his graduation date. This is an incredible achievement in the light on how hard everything was with his bother right when he started university. He has plans for a professional Masters, but will take a year off which I think he needs.
I am grateful to still rent the house they have grown up in, so he can come home and take a deep breath before he starts the next chapter.

@ditty1234 glad your DS are both on track with their academic plans and good luck with your interview. I had a second interview this morning for the job I went for earlier this week, we'll see what happens. I could see the list of candidates and seems like there were several of us and only one vacancy. Fingers crossed.

What an amazing and positive post @ditty1234 , so glad DS1 is okay and moving forward now. Was that really 3 years ago?Got up and spoke to DH on the phone - only one month left until he comes home. So proud of him.Did the top up food shop for bargains and forgotten items, and the diy shop for items to knock more jobs off the list, accidentally bought 6 very healthy half price strawberry plants for £3 - all planted out already - even if I only get 5 strawberries from each plant, it will work out cheaper than buying a punnet. Some french bean and cucumber seeds were planted too. Made a meal plan and I should only need bread until school breaks up on Friday.Sorted out another huge box of stuff for the charity shop / recycling centre. It is now sitting by the door, looking at me, judging me, next to yesterdays big bin liner. Progress has been made. Or it will be once it leaves the house.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Today I am grateful for a lie in, for the washing machine, for a walk in the warm weather, for the lovely chaps at the bouldering place, for the new Dr Who.

Happy birthday @lcc86!
Your hot tub sounds great @Starlight_at_Sea, if only I could hop in too...
Congratulations on your DS's doing well @ditty1234 & keeping everything crossed for your interview.
A lovely couple of days here. Yesterday was NSD#11 & a scorcher! A good day at work, took a detour home afterwards, then delivered 4 boxes of plants to a nurse at the hospital. Went to mum's, we had tea then went to the beach for our first paddle of the year. It was quite busy & the hair yanking pupil was there too! No escape eh?! 🤣 Back to mum's for a sleepover, watched more of a box set & knitted plus put on facemasks which peel off. Very relaxing, just like when you had PVA on your fingers at school. 😃
Mum woke at 3.30 with her restless legs, but I carried on sleeping til 6.30. Did the food shop, dropped off sewing & collected more. After dinner, I weeded more of the garden, including round the asparagus. Dug up lots of dandelions in the front garden, they're quite prolific this year!
After tea I did the ironing, unpicked a coat zip & some knitting. Feeling shattered now!
Grateful for beautiful weather, paddling, quality time with mum, having a houseful today, time in the garden, my bedUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃
