I note the application form allows applications from GB applicants if you're an existing Danske customer. Is there any way to become a Danske customer though? All the savings accounts I've checked have had the same stipulation.
If you're an existing customer, you're not a 'New Customer', are you?
Although they should have a definition - to clarify that had you upened an account yesterday, would that be new?
    Or last week?
    Or last month?
    Or ... what?

If you have a bank account with, say,  Barclays, you're still a new customer for one of their credit cards.
I think, lacking any definition to the contrary, you could argue successfully you are a new customer to Danske if you hold something other than a current account with them.
Just one man's opinion tho, anyone reading should understand you'll be somewhat at the whims of their customer service/the ombudsman if a payout isn't triggered. I can't guarantee either will share the same opinion.

It used to be possible to open Danske accounts without having to live in NI. If one of these customers only held savings accounts but not a current account, I would argue they would be an existing Danske customer, but a new current account customer.

I don't believe there is anyway now to open any Danske accounts without living in NI, but I would be happy to be proved wrong.

Any definition of a "New Personal Current Account Customer"?

I have an existing Reward Account. Reckon if I close it and open a new one I'd be a new customer?
They could say you're a returning customer rather than a new customer.

Also, even if that was to work, do you live in NI?

As I live in NI I'll be giving this one a go  :D
Any feedback on the account opening/switching process would be appreciated. Good luck!
Just applied for the reward account. Process was straightforward enough, selfie part was very fiddly and took ages. They asked if I wanted to do a switch to which I replied yes, but didn't ask for any details so I have to assume this can be done from within the app. I now have to wait up to 2 working days to see if I'm accepted.

My interpretation would be that in order to open a qualifying current account:

So if you hold a Danske bank savings account you would be a Danske Bank customer and would therefore be eligible to open the current account regardless of whether you lived in Belfast, Bridlington, Ballater or anywhere else in the UK.

The terms of the offer stated on their main page (and now added into the Ts&Cs pdf):

    [.....]

Therefore the terms seem to imply to me (particularly the final part) that they are distinguishing between ``new Danske bank customer" and ``new Danske Bank personal current account customer" and therefore that if you hold a Danske savings account but not a current account you will be eligible for the offer.

Thus on this basis if you opened a Danske savings account then closed/switched out your existing Danske current account you could apply for a new Danske current account as a new Danske Bank personal current account customer if you live anywhere in the UK and thus be eligible for the £200 subject to meeting the rest of the terms of the offer.

I just applied for the Choice current account.
Didn't ask for any selfie or id though
Same as that, never asked any switching details, just name on account.

I see what you're saying. So he needs to open a savings account to ensure he remains a Danske customer and can do his subsequent switch from anywhere in the UK, then close/switch out his reward account, then open a new current account as a new Danske current account customer (as opposed to a new Danske customer).

I'm not sure Danske will see it that way but we'll see.

Did you do it on the website? I did it using the QR code. It seems those using the QR code submit photo ID and selfie. Those applying on the website will receive an email with a link to digitally sign your account documents.
