Okay, that explains it. I'll avoid that one next time I book a stay in Brighton.

As I say, the London Road Travelodge is fine. My tip is to try to get there early and ask for a room at the front. That way, while you do get a bit more traffic noise, you have open views across Preston Park, whereas the back rooms just look out on wasteland and the refuse area.

Having been overbooked last year on a room booked and paid for well in advanced despite having phoned during the afternoon to inform arriving at 1am as coming off a ferry, I note with interest that in their terms dated 2008 that Travelodge will now pay £50 back on to your card as well as providing alternative accommodation and free breakfast if you are overbooked. That might tempt me to take the risk.
