I've never had much luck with cooking dried butter beans! They always seem to split whether I slow cook or pressure cook them. Any tips?
I think the thing with baked beans is nothing to do with the protein but because a lot of people were using them as a vegetable rather than having the green stuff which is what you really need for Speed.0 -

Thanks everyone. Yes much better he's at home particularly as I find driving very tiring these days. I didn't get up until nearly 8 this morning but feeling tired already. I think DH must still have some anaestheia in his system as he keeps dozing off! He probably won't sleep tonight when we get to bed!0

Morning all, it's a lovely bright day again today so another machine load of washing on the line. Don't think it'll take too long to dry, apart from the anti clot stockings DH has to wear which have to be hand washed so obviously not as dry as when spun in the machine! They are extremely hard work to get on and off but they have to be I suppose!
Didn't have a very good night as DH couldn't get comfortable and kept trying to move and then swearing because it hurt! Took him nearly 20 minutes to get up this morning - a water bed is just too soft so I have made up the bed in the spare room so he'll be sleep better I hope but it will certainly be easier for him to get in and out of! He's still in a lot of pain and it looks as though the knee is infected; it's extremely swollen (to be expected) and very hot to touch. They gave him IV anti biotics in hospital but didn't give him any to bring home which I was surprised about. He's waiting for a call from the Smart Nurses who do home visits to arrange a time to visit, hopefully they can check it for him.
Enough about DH! How's your DH @maman? Recovering well I hope.
You had a good lay in yesterday at @bubbs. You definitely must have needed it as you usually get up quite early so it catches up eventually!
Today's plan:
B - overnight oats
L - LO curries and lentil dahl, basmati/wild rice - all from freezer
D - roast pork dinner
HEA - milk
HEB - oats
Syns - crackling 4? Not sure what else if anything.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, good to read the DH’s are on the mend. Hope your DH gets antibiotics quickly if he needs them @joedenise
We have heavy rain with thunder and lightning forecast today and tomorrow, although it’s dry and windy now I’ll not chance it and leave the washing until Wednesday when it’s supposed to be warmer and sunny. But you never know!Meeting a friend for lunch today so as I was up later than normal - 9am! - and not hungry I’ve just had coffee and can always opt for soup starter if I need more. Still to decide on dinner. It will depend on what I eat at lunch time. This living solo has thrown me off course and I’m having picky plates and snacky type meals and it’s only been four days!
Have a smashing day all!0 -
Hopefully you'll both get a better night's sleep tonight @joedenise. That does seem odd not to continue with the antibiotics. 🤔
It's strange when you're just cooking for yourself when you're not used to it @Jellybaby. Last week I just managed mostly on what was in.
This week, although DH is back home, he's eating smaller portions so that means more LOs for me. Today I've got bubble & squeak from Saturday's veg and still got casserole from yesterday.
I've just made pasta sauce for tonight so will freeze half of that later.
Today's plan -
B- HEB toast, scrambled eggs (P), tomatoes (S), HEA1 milk for drinks
L- ham (P), bubble & squeak (F, S), pickles (S)
D- pasta with meatballs in tomato sauce (P, F, S), HEA 2 Parmesan
Syns - 0

Change of plan as DH isn't eating much as not feeling hungry so I'm roasting the pork joint. He'll have his in a sandwich and I'll have mine with some salad as I've already had oats today and don't like syncing bread!
