Trying to spin this to a positive - I think some of this delay / slow, loss is probably the overshoot that I normally see after indulgence (Easter chocolate) so I am being determinedly happy that I haven’t gained!KKNot all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I was looking at my 2009 SW record and I lost a stone in the first 4 weeks (I was a size 16 at the time for perspective, and was going on holiday to a cottage with a pool with my stick thin MIL and SIL which was really quite motivating - size 10 achieved after three months of red days and 5km running 3 x weekly, and an exercise video if I couldn't run) and what I find really hard now is that no matter how hard I try, how much I walk (ankle of doom means I can't run anymore) I still lose no more than a pound a week. The key thing for me is to measure not just weigh, the scales don't change but the inches do.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thanks all 😊
Another good day here. Sensible eating all day and spent a long time in the garden this evening - hit 12K steps without really trying. Had HUGE cravings for chocolate at lunchtime but managed to resist and had my one square with my post dinner cup of tea just now 😊
I have to say, knowing that I’m going to be coming here and reporting each day is really helpful - you were all in my thoughts at lunchtime when craving chocolate and at 5pm this evening when craving crisps …. 😊

Sorry that I haven't been around. There was some new content in a game that the HT plays and I was press ganged into doing some of it. I weighed myself yesterday and I've lost 3 lbs which has never happened before. I'm more likely to be one of the half pound group.
I have been eating more fruit than usual so probably less bread. We did go out for coffee a few times in the week but we didn't buy cake or junk food to bring home. I've also been drinking water instead of "diet" drinks. I haven't managed to roast chickpeas as a snack yet but I have high hopes of finding time to do it tomorrow. Today will be ironing this morning then gardening at BF's this afternoon with more gaming (with BF and the HT) this evening after dinner.
I've bought a new book of crochet patterns so using both of my hands to make something in any bits of spare time means that I don't have a hand free to dip into a crisp packet, especially as I don't want my work to get dirty (it's a light colour). It's important for me not to sit with nothing to do as that's when my thoughts stray towards snacks.
Take care all of you 😊4 -

HI everyone
I have enjoyed reading all your posts - I may only post once a week but will try to get on more often where possible. @CRANKY40 - 3lbs in one week is fantastic.
For me the weight loss/debt free journey are very linked. I have a lot of weight to lose and debt to pay down as well. I think the link for me is related to feeling powerless about losing weight (I am not saying this is true - just how I have felt at times) and spending to make myself feel good. I have had some good attempts to lose weight with varying degrees of success (although I guess I could say that none of them were successful as here I still am trying to lose weight).
I am having another serious go at this entirely for health reasons. I am now in my late 50s and do not wish to hit 60 at the weight I am now. It does have an impact on what I do - doesn't impact on work (as I mainly sit on my backside at a desk or in a car and anything else is quite low level) but it limits my life choices and it won't get any better as I get older.
My method of choice (and I have tried them all) is calorie counting using the nutracheck app which I think I saw someone else mentioning. I need some boundaries and this time I am using a weekly approach (ie sticking within my calories every week rather than every day). I havn't tried this deliberately before but when I am away with work and at weekends I need more flexibility so this is a way of seeing if I can achieve that within a structure.
All of this will assist in our debt reduction - the more we plan meals and stick to that the better we manage our food spending and this control impacts on other areas of my spending.
Mr L is wanting to lose a stone or so and as the chef, is happy to go with the flow in terms of the meal planning. We are vegetarian and hoping to move towards more plant based along the way, but we don't overthink that. I am tracking the 30 plants a week approach as I see that as beneficial in terms of widening what I eat on the fruit and veg front which can never be a bad thing.
I am not in a rush - just want to see a downward direction of travel really and in doing this, find a sustainable approach as it is going to take me a long time! But I am a veteran of slimming clubs, week one - 7lbs+ loss, week 2 - 3lbs+ loss and then off the boil, a couple of half-hearted weeks and then I don't go back. Quite often at SW I would have bought a countdown course and not finished it!!! I know that in weight-loss (as in debt reduction) it's the small consistent changes that stick which will make the difference.
I did a first weigh-in yesterday and will weigh on a Saturday morning - the logic of this is that I can review calories eaten after the weekend and adjust my Mon-Fri to reflect this within the weekly total.
Best wishes to everyone for whatever they are aiming for. Thank you @CRANKY40 for starting this off and I look forward to contributing.

Bravo Cranky! 👏👍🎉🥳
Another pretty good day in spite of a lousy night’s sleep. Have eaten properly all day (remarkable on a weekend!). Bit light on steps - just 7.5K, but after yesterday I feel physically sore and I know from experience if I push myself too much I just get ill. Been active, pottering all day though so hopefully that has kept my base level of metabolism up a little.KKAs at 15.07.25:
