Weight loss and healthy eating for a debt free life

redofromstart said:I did ct5k years ago and found it really effective. I don't think running will ever be an option again with my dodgy ankle (although the mid height trainers with built in elastic ankle support are brilliant, I was living in laced up boots till I got them) but fast walking the jog bits makes sense.I think the walkfit walk routines are essentially based on that build up cycle of slow walk/fast walk. I like them because if I start that up before my music then it does the prompts over my music. I have sleep type headband headphones for walking which stop my ears from getting cold and keeps my hair out of my eyes.It is now 4 weeks until the weekend away for the big walk (my late husbands favourite hill with his sons, and his best friend) so I need to step up my efforts, and actually do my physio regularly.
Good luck with prepping for the big walk."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1 -
Thanks Jwil, I have got wireless in ear ones but they fall out. The man with all the toys had some nice Bose headphones which I should try too.
2.5 lbs off so chipping away at last weeks gain. I am on 9.6k steps, and did 15 minutes on the treadmill while my food cooked. IBS is fairly grim, my own fault for bad food choices last week. Lots of nice F&V bought this morning, and I have even eaten some of it.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I have day 2 of c25k today. I'm full of cold and haven't slept for a couple of nights - I'll be lucky to drag my feet off the ground!

Hope all of your weight loss journeys are going well. I hope you don'timd me joining you all.
Because of my ADHD I'm an all or nothing person. If I try to do things when I'm supposed to ill self sabotage it because of the way my brain works so I can't start in January when everyone else does, I also find if I start to early I get bored before summer arrives and I want can't hide behind hoodies all of the time. This meant the first day of my weight loss journey was 1st of March.
Had a good first week which is because of the amount of weight I need to loose and the shock to the system when I start controlling what I eat, my diet is usually awful so calorie counting works best for me as it's the only one my brain can't cheat.

I'm a huge self sabotager so understand that too. I don't lose weight quickly despite being very large so it's very disheartening. I've been focussing more on upping my exercise at the moment and creating new habits, and it's working for me, and I can feel results. Hopefully the weight loss will follow!
Good luck with it"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1 -
Hello @Rud0lf , how are you getting on?
Mixed results for me, the same few pounds go on and off. I have upped the exercise in the hope that this will help.
Plan was to be brave this morning and go swimming (can't see without my glasses so I find it mildly stressful on the first visit while I work out where things are, plus my whole don't like new things vibe) but I couldn't actually get my swimsuit on, and I am certainly not going in the bikini that does fit but exposes far too much flesh! It is a good job I checked at home. Azn had a 'shaping' speedo one for £12 so I have ordered that which is due to arrive on Monday. I used to swim regularly and it is better for my joints so keen to get past the mental barrier.

I've been doing well with keeping up the walking and doing more exercise. I've also been eating better, but with no movement on the weight. However, today my mood has dropped like a stone and I think I've eaten all the chocolate I haven't eaten over the last few weeks 🙄. Hopefully a better night's sleep tonight will improve things tomorrow!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Oh @redofromstart I totally get the partially blind swimming issue (not to mention trying to squidge all the wobbly bits into a costume). I went through the same last week but must admit I felt such a massive sense of accomplishment getting back in the pool so do it.Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

I'm doing well so far but always do for the first few weeks while I'm fully motivated.
I'm being very strict with myself and sticking to 1250 calories a day, making sure I choose low calorie density foods so that I feel full but building in some treats, I've lost a total of 13lb but have another three stone to go. I know this is making me lose weight quicker than I really should but I need the quick results to keep me going otherwise I get bored and give up.
Although it's not the healthiest way to do it the other option I had was the weight loss injection which I'm keen to avoid if possible as I'll hopefully be starting ADHD meds in the next couple of months so don't want to have any other medication if I can avoid it as I need to be clear about any side effects so that I can make an informed decision on whether I want to permanently take medication. I am just about managing my ADHD at the moment but it can get me into trouble with impulsive spending and rash decisions which is why I'm on this forum in the first place.
I'll stay at 1250 calories for a few more weeks then increase by 50 a week until I'm at a less drastic but steady weight loss. This is part of the reason I gave up running because I couldn't balance the two in my head but I'm walking regularly and hoping to take up yoga as an investment to me future self.
Thanks for checking in me @redofromstart it really helps me stay on track and not fall off the wagon. Such a good job you checked the costume at home I've bought a few online in the past which there was no way I could have went out in public in, I now have a couple which have a strong hold layer. Hope everyone is doing well xx
