I always like the 'fit into the new trousers' challenge @D123456789 a happier measure than the scales sometimes

A pound gain for me this week, better than my usual three pounds on, three pounds off cycle. I was expecting more to be honest after a week of eating junk while I filled the skip. I really need to make myself move more this week given that the weather is a little better and I don't have a skip to fill.

Hope the decluttering is going well @redofromstart or now the skip is filled are you done?

Thank you for the well wishes @jwil  I haven’t moved much this week, I am feeling better but not on top form, and the wind and rain is not inspiring me to get outside and be active!

I am very determined to fit in my new work trousers, and I have decluttered some summer clothes in anticipation of being slimmer in the summer. I will label myself MSE for selling a few bits on vinted but I am just deluded!

A round up of last year shows online clothes purchases of approx 1100 pounds (!) for me and LO. However, to mitigate, sales were about 950. So not too terrible! There are also purchases of branded school uniform, school shoes and other bits and bobs bought from the shops but mostly I buy online.

I am still palming off Christmas chocolates on anyone who will take them - I can take some to work if there’s any lingering for too much longer. I am doing remarkably well keeping off the sweet treats, and on the whole  my clothes are much more comfortable.😊

Hope everyone has a good week.

Glad you are feeling better @D123456789

I think I'm about there for making a fresh start.  Most of the xmas goodies are gone, and I've been doing well with decluttering the food cupboards and freezer.  It's not all gone, but much improved.

I'm still thinking I'm going to have to join SW for motivation and in person accountability, but I'll give it another go myself first as I don't really want to pay out!

Just got back to MSE after a long hiatus and found this thread.  Not had the chance to read it all the way through, so apologies if I'm sharing information that is old news, but has anyone tried the Freshwell app?  I recommend it a lot.  It is completely free, has lots of recipes and different 4 week meal plans, including a budget one (very MSE!).  It also has education modules to explain the benefits of a low carb (not no carb) diet, so particularly useful for pre-diabetics or anyone recently diagnosed.

DH and I tried the moussaka with feta topping recipe from this (though used vegetarian mince instead of lamb) and since then my DH has been trying to add this feta topping to everything!!  He thinks it's the best thing he's ever eaten!  Just made up of some greek yoghurt, eggs, feta, parmesan and seasoning but something magical seems to happen when you bake it!

Anyway, good luck to all with the weight loss and healthy eating.  I would be joining in if I weren't in my second trimester - hopefully this thread is still around when I need to desperately lose the baby weight!

Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.
    Debt at highest = £62,842.59 (Dec 2018) - now £40,581.49 (12.08.25)
    Mortgage start Dec 2024 £247,069.59 - now £243,571.35
    Mortgage overpayment total = £300
    Emergency fund £1003.35/£12000

I think the basic principles of the plan make sense and are a way of healthy eating for life without too much faff (I don't get on with calorie counting). I don't agree with everything, and I don't like all the cheats and fake food people do to try and get around it, but when I went to group. I found it motivating having the thought of a weigh in, and I got some good suggestions, so it worked for me.  I think I need that accountability.  I lost around 2st without fully following the plan, but then stopped when my mental health went down, so I think I'd like to try again.

That sounds good, thank you.  I'll have a look.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!  Do pop back when you are ready.  I'm certainly here for the long haul.

It's always great to find helpful sources and recipes, thanks for sharing!
I've recently read about the weight loss benefits of miso soup. It helps with weight loss through the presence of soy. I haven't tried cooking it on my own, but I really enjoyed it at a Japanese restaurant.
Does anyone cook miso soup at home? Could you share the recipe?

I've never made it from scratch but I've bought this before and you can either just add water or add other ingredients: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/301064423?srsltid=AfmBOoo6Neke58T1x1ayKSNM6QoMR74iYhM178XFdcjzGasNl1PPt1kZ

Thanks for sharing about freshwell  @browneyed_girl

I eat a lot of fruit and veg on the orange list!
I might start eating more nuts as lots are on the green list. I eat a lot of veg from the green list.
i eat a small amount of potato and grapes every week, and i have Oatibix most days for breakfast and they are on the red list ….

its all very interesting. I might try the soy bean spaghetti and the chickpea flour for pizza!

Anyway, it’s been 8 weeks since I first came on this thread with my ambitions to reset my eating habits and move more. I haven’t achieved all I set out but I have weighed myself and the changes I have made so far are definitely working !

Thank you for the supportive comments they have really helped.
