Weight loss and healthy eating for a debt free life

Hello, can i please join in?
I could literally copy the opening post on this thread when talking a bout myself. There is just me and my 2 adult sons at home, and i spent almost £800 on food shopping last month (not including xmas food).
A good portion of my £10k debt is probably related to overspending on food, and unsurprisingly, i am also overweight.
My plan for this year is to stop overspending on food, and lose weight as a result.

I swear my body is broken. I spend months eating poorly and my weight remains absolutely stable. I make steps towards eating better and I gain 3lbs in a couple of weeks. It's so frustrating."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.

Thank you all
I figured last week's 2lb was ok because I felt bloated, but felt better this week so was gutted to see another lb! I wasn't expecting to have lost, but wasn't expecting to gain.

It's so frustrating. All good advice. I only drink water, so do get plenty of fluids, but there are certainly days I could improve. I gave up my can of fizzy pop this month and haven't missed it so that's an improvement. I agree about the word diet, I never diet, but I try and make small but manageable changes to improve things. As a result I never see big losses, but don't want the numbers going in the wrong direction!

A rather shameful 6.5 lbs on for me at fat club. This was the weigh in as I returned from my little holiday so I wasn't surprised. It represents a lot of very much enjoyed cheese and wine and biscuits. Generally what goes on quickly comes off again quickly and I have been moving a lot more which should help.
I have tidied the workshop enough to get to the treadmill, so I have no excuse really.
I have rediscovered slimline bitter lemon which gives me something to drink that doesn't involve caffeine or alcohol so that is good.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
