Re keeping tabs on switches, my son asked me today if I'd heard of this 'Switch Tracker' app. I hadn't, and can't see any previous reference to it on this forum:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.switchtracker.bank_switch&hl=en_US&pli=1
Not sure I see the value over just a spreadsheet/email labels personally. I wonder if they have the relevant FCA certification needed to advertise banking services...

It can be dangerous giving an unknown third party details about your bank accounts. I'd never use an app like this one.

My account was visible instantly. I would call and go through with them all the details of both accounts. It could be that for whatever reason a seperate profile was created, which prevents you from seeing the account and it would need to be merged. I painfully experienced this in the past but no problems since it got sorted. I would also mention that you would like to switch but are afraid the offer will be withdrawn before you are able to do so and would ask the advisor to make a note in the files about this. That way you have it recorded and documented and more chance of getting the incentive even after the offer was officially withdrawn.

I have a Santander Edge Current account already to get the Edge Savings account paying 7%.

If I was to switch another account to my existing edge I assume this would then meet the criteria to start being charged the monthly fee on the Edge current account (which I am not having to pay at the moment) ? - If this is the case I'm probably best opening a new basic current account with them just for the switch bonus.

The basic current account doesn't qualify. Everyday Current Account does though, I already have an Edge current account so just now applied for a new Everyday Current Account via existing log in and it was instantly available once completing all the questions.

I have opened Everyday account on 27 Mar, still not visible on my app
I couldnt do switch when I applied for new account, my card for donor account hasnt arrived yet. I dont expect it to come this weekend
I have a gnawing feeling that Santander switch offer will go away by 31 Mar

Any rumblings when they will stop the offer?
Do they generally give a warning that offer is valid for another 2-3  days only before withdrawing the offer? What has been the past experience of switches?
I can't answer on how much notice, but if you want a dummy account that's instant, open a Chase account. You get the card number in the app straight away.
  • For any existing customers that were wondering - I had no luck on the phone but was able to do the switch in branch with an appointment, took 10 mins. It was hard getting an appointment though!
Also, the account I switched into my Santander joint account was a solo account, no issues.
Has anyone with an existing Santander bank a/c managed to successfully take up the March switch offer WITHOUT going into the bank? The nearest one to me is difficult to get to at the best of times.

I know the £160 offer was pulled without warning and immediately replaced with the £175 offer but I can't remember them giving notice of the others being pulled off the top of my head.

Yes, just opened an additional account online and transferred into that. An Everyday Account is a simple one to go for. It can just sit alongside your existing account(s).

Thank you. I'm assuming that meant a hard search on your credit file...
  • Opened an everday account online, got a reference number and could take 5 days to hear back, this is normal?
