Thanks very much bridlington. I'll certainly bear that helpful advice in mind. I just want to add that I'm talking about myself and my partner as we tend to open accounts separately to maximise on the switch incentives.Bridlington1 said:
Look through your previous Santander statements. When I benefitted from the £160 switching offer it came up as ``SANTANDER SWITCHER OFFER CASHBACK".worriednoob said:Guys, I've switched so many accounts that I don't remember if I ever got paid by Santander. I only remember switching from Santander to another account, but not vice-versa. Therefore I suspect that although we've had accounts with Santander, we've never been paid. Does anyone know how I can check this to avoid switching unnecessarily, thus wasting a lot of time and getting a mark on the credit-file?
Going forwards I'd suggest keeping a list of which switching offers you've received and when so you don't have this issue in the future.
So it seems found some notes that I previously kept that I already had an existing Santander Account which I switched to First Direct and for my partner we opened Santander only as a burner account to switch to RBS, but we never switched into Santander, nor did we ever receive any switch incentives from Santander. Would we therefore still be eligible to apply for the Switch incentive?1 -
If you and your partner have never received a switching incentive from Santander before then you are both eligible. You can now either each open a new Santander account and switch into it online, or you can switch into an existing Santander account (if applicable) in branch or over the phone.worriednoob said:

I'm thinking of switching but the questionnaire really throws me off. It is asking for employer's name, date of joining (!), total income, total outgoings, how much I will pay in and out from this particular account, among others. Is Santander always this excessive?

I've been asked the same questions by several other other banks/building societies so it's not specific to Santander to be fair.okigen said:I'm thinking of switching but the questionnaire really throws me off. Yeah it's definitely an unusual way of asking. Usually it's annual salary, then mortgage/rent, then dependants. Santander Is asking for monthly income (I entered gross before pension deductions) then "outgoings" (I did a quick mental addition of pension, mortgage, childcare) and then the usual dependants question. All went through fine and I'd actually say it's on the shorter side of some of the bank account applications I've ever completed.okigen said:I'm thinking of switching but the questionnaire really throws me off. Thanks very much. Will go ahead now. We've lost track of when many of the previous switches were done, so going forward, I'm thinking to keep track of all the bank switching whether it's worth creating a spreadsheet or does one already exist for serial switchers?Bridlington1 said:

I have a 123 earning 2% with most my DDs in that account...had it quite a while , originally something else that got higher fees so changed down to 123
so If I switch to Edge up the calculator estimates will be £30 per year better off..question is can I swap this online and bag the £185 ?Over £2K made from bank switches and P2P incentives since 2016 :beer:0 -
Don't think you can get the offer if you switch from one Santander account to another. But you could get a burner account, switch from that to Edge Up to get the offer and later move the other account to the Edge Up one.2

Why not? Existing customers can get the switch offer too.danco said:Don't think you can get the offer if you switch from one Santander account to another. But you could get a burner account, switch from that to Edge Up to get the offer and later move the other account to the Edge Up one.0 -
Usually you have to switch from a bank that is different to the one you are switching to. A change of account at the same bank wouldn't be a switch.WillPS said:
