New Santander App

I see they are putting out a new app. On the video it says one can freeze ones account. That sounds useful. But can one unfreeze the account from the app as well anyone know?

I assume you mean " instantly freeze or unfreeze your cards. " (taken from the video transcript)

It really isn't awful and is a standard feature in most banking apps now, including the current Santander app. And yes, you can clearly unfreeze your card.

You should be able to download the new app from your favourite app store. It is called Santander Pilot and it happily co-exists with the old one on the same device.

The app still has some major functions missing though things like card freezing/unfreezing is useful, and they finally managed to display the payees sorted alphabetically. Still only very limited search functions, and you still have to use online banking for things like changing an SO. I think the interface is messy. It's quite underwhelming IMO.

It has features missing because "Santander Pilot" is still the test version and so is a "work in progress". I really like the interface and find almost everything really well laid out.
  • New look app now live, seemed to be pain free, got a text message code, app recognised it so didn't need to key it in, put in 5 digit security number, selected background (not sure the point of that but hey ho)

App says you can select text size so that's good yeah?

Guess I need to get rid of Pilot app now?
  • I knew there was a reason I didn't like the pilot app, the savings rates displayed aren't the same.

eg my limited edition used to display as 5.08%, new app shows as 5.20%

My other Easy Access used to display as 3.98%, new app shows as 4.05%

    ARGH!

5.20% if interest is paid annually is the same as 5.08% if it is paid monthly...

I'm paid monthly therefore I want to see the monthly rate.

That's what was shown pre new look app.

Thing is loads of people are now going to think their rates have gone up due to the new look app when in actual fact they haven't, maybe that's what Santander want.

Left feedback on Google Play anyways

For my Android phone, the Pilot has ended and they have said they'll be rolling out the new app in the next few weeks.

I still use the Pilot app on my iPhone, and I still can see the Pilot app in the Apple Appstore
