thanks all for your continued support.
Rick's doing really well - they are discharging him later today, although i cannot understand why as he is weak in moving. he had physio this morning and passed his stair assessment (he can climb 4 steps). so off you go said the medical staff. he's put on 2lb of weight which is moving in the right direction.

i had a word with the physio at my work this pm - she's advised me what to demand when picking him up (such as loan of wheelchair etc) so thats been helpful.
i have converted the dining room into his bedroom, so that he can wonder through the ground floor at ease and has no worries about access to toilet etc. its set up with sky, radio and wii console, so he should be well accommodated!!! i will need to find out what care package he will need such as district nursing / physio.

he is coming here for 5 nights a week and then spending 2 nights with dad in the hope that they can rebuild their relationship, its also a neutral location for him to receive visitors, and his mates can come and go as they please.

i just cannot believe that he is coming home:rolleyes: so soon, but i hope that its the right decision.

great news that he can come home!!
does seem a little early but i'm sure the drs wouldnt discharge him unless they thought he is well/strong enough
hopefully will do him good as well!!

    That is fantastic news! :)

I would not worry too much, being comfortable and relaxed will speed up his recovery. He is probably not getting proper rest in hospital, (who does, eh?)

It will all work out, you'll see :)

I am really, really made up for you all.

great news. hopefully his recovery will be quicker in familier surroundings. i think it is great that you are looking after him and supporting him while he tries to sort his differences with his dad! your children will be pleased to see him home - just dont let them wear rick out. he is lucky to have such loving extended family.
all the best for ricks continuing recovery - make sure you look after yourself as well.

Wow, what fantastic news. So pleased to hear that you are still supporting him and that he will try to rebuild his relationship with his dad. Hope the hospital will sort out the care package before he actually leaves hospital. Glad he has started to put weight on too.

I have just spent the morning reading your thread and my heart goes out to you all.. i know how worrying it is to have someone you love on life support.. My dad had a series of major heart attacks this time last year and was very ill at wythenshaw hospital, he pulled thro and was put on a waiting list for a bypass op.. due to other illnesses and complications he had the op couldnt go ahead quickly and was postponed quite a few times, dad got the go ahead for his op on the 14th of this month, on the 15th he died at home in bed during the night in his sleep, i comfort myself with the thought that thats the way he would have wanted to go, at home peacefully in his sleep with mum by his side.. not in hospital wired up to machines etc, your thread is truely inspiring and has made me laugh (at your manic cooking) i went thro this stage when dad was in hospital lol, and cry at your pain and frustration at not being in control of the situation and the helplessness you feel, my thoughts are with you and you will be in my prayers.. i hope rick recovers to lead a fab and full life, and hopefully this experience will help build bridges in relationships within your family, my dad's illness and death have done just that within our family and although we are all grieving all our family are now reunited and hopefully we have a future together this is ob dads legacy to us. wishing you health and happiness in your futures and thinking of you.
